Student answer (Band 6.0)

today many people around the care about environment because of this more tourists want to travel in green and responsible ways this new trend called eco- tourism and it is growing very fast in my opinion this is a very positive trend because it helps to protect nature and supports local communities the main reason why eco - tourism is good is that it raises money for natue when tourists visit nanal parks or wildlife areas they pay entry fees governments and organixations use this money to protect wild animals and clean the environment furthermore eco tourism creates jobs for local people instead of cutting down trees or hunting animals to make money local people can work as tour guides or run small hotels for example in many African countries wild animals are saved because tourist pay a lot of to see them however we must be careful because eco-tourism can have some problems if too many tourists can have some problems if too many tourists visit a beautiful place they might leave garbage or disturb the wild animals also some just to get more money but they do not really protect nature in conclusion i believe that the growth of eco-tourism is a great thing it teachers people to love nature and brings money to poor areas to make it compltely positive governments just need to control the number of visitors and make sure compainies follow the rules

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the positive and negative aspects of eco-tourism, maintaining a clear position throughout. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word requirement (239 words), which limits the depth of development. While the main ideas—environmental protection and economic benefits—are relevant, they are somewhat briefly explained. The conclusion provides a balanced summary, but the overall development is constrained by the length. To improve, you should expand on your examples, such as elaborating on how specific African countries manage wildlife conservation, to ensure a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and mechanical. There is a lack of punctuation, such as full stops between sentences, which makes the text feel like a continuous stream of thought rather than distinct, well-linked ideas. For example, the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks is abrupt. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'nonetheless', 'in addition') and ensure that each sentence is clearly demarcated with appropriate punctuation.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You use simple terms like 'good', 'great', and 'make money' throughout the text. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'nanal' (national), 'organixations' (organizations), 'natue' (nature), and 'compainies' (companies), which indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues and tourism to demonstrate a wider range and better control over word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammar is characterized by a lack of sentence boundaries, as the entire essay is essentially written without periods or capital letters at the start of sentences. This significantly impacts the readability and the assessment of your grammatical control. While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of punctuation makes it difficult to evaluate your sentence structure accurately. You must focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and that you use full stops to separate independent clauses. Improving your punctuation is the most urgent step for your progress.
