Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this well developed world, the issue of environment is escalating gradually.Owing to this, number of individuals are preferring to visit environment- friendly places. This practice is rendering opportunity of broaden the eco-tourism businesses.According to my perspective, I firmly agree with the statement. Therefore, I am going to discuss all the positive and negative side of this phenomenon in upcoming paragraphs with appropriate examples and at the end the conclusion will be drawn by me.

To commence with, there are few advantages of this enhancement. The extreme outcome of it is that it helps to protect existing ancient places which is destroying by travellers. To explain it, there are plethora of old attractions including park, buildings, lakes and many more which surrounded by us.While visiting this places visitors are increasing the pollutions ratio by throwing unnecessary garbage especially water bottles which harms environment. If they will embark the visiting ecotourism exercise, it will prevent the risk of damaging environment.

However, though it may expand the eco tourists industry, the income which generated by visiting local places will be effected. In other words, most of the territories are depending on revenue which earning by local attractions. If more and more people are showing the interest towards responsible places to travel, it will cut down the wealth of nations as a consequence there will considerably decline in country's development. For an example, In Vietnam, the beauty of historical things, currently suffering from lake of tourists as instead of this place communities are choosing environment friendly place to visit, due to this around 55% of ancient buildings are going to demolished.

In the conclusion, although the trend of eco-tourists is worthy, its negative aspects not ignorable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the positive and negative aspects of eco-tourism. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain the environmental benefits, the second paragraph regarding the economic impact is confusing and lacks logical support. The example provided about Vietnam is unclear and factually questionable, which weakens the overall argument. The position is stated in the introduction, but the conclusion is abrupt and fails to provide a balanced summary of the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported idea that directly relates to the extent of the trend's positivity.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'However', 'In the conclusion'), they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'While visiting this places visitors are increasing the pollutions ratio', where the link between the subject and the action is weak. The progression of ideas within paragraphs lacks clarity, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'rendering opportunity of broaden', 'extreme outcome', and 'lake of tourists' (likely meant 'lack'). The vocabulary is often repetitive, and the student struggles to use more academic or topic-specific terminology effectively. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning collocations related to environmental and economic topics and avoid literal translations from their native language, which often result in unnatural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('number of individuals are preferring', 'income which generated... will be effected'), article usage ('the issue of environment'), and pluralisation ('visiting this places'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from achieving a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
