Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due to rising pollution in the environment, majority of the population is choosing to be 'eco-tourists' and prefer to travel in a responsible and environment friendly manner. In result of this, there is a massive boost up in eco-tourism industry. I believe, this is truly a positive trend followed by individuals. This essay will discuss the reasons why.

In response to a raising levels of pollution globally, the majority of the population is opting to become 'eco-tourists'. While they travel, they prefer to use environment friendly materials, such as recycled cans and plastics. They always try to keep their surroundings clean and pollution free. Individuals who choose to be eco-tourists always carry environment safe things.

Moreover, they always spread awareness among the public to use environmental friendly goods so that our ecosystem can stay healthy. They always try to inform public through different ways for example, social media, surveys and come together in large number of people to aware public. Their tours always prioritize eco-friendly goods and no hazardous impact on the environment. This is a good way to awake public about this that if they want to save their environment and want to intake clean and fresh air they should also start using eco-safe products.

To sum up, the concern regarding the environmental conditions is fair and choosing to expand eco-tourism industry is a good way to save it. This will help to convey an important message to the world to reduce the pollution globally and use more of the recycled goods to create a better way of living.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that eco-tourism is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is limited. The essay relies on repetitive points about 'eco-friendly goods' and 'recycled materials' rather than exploring the broader implications of eco-tourism, such as economic benefits for local communities or the potential for environmental preservation versus the risks of 'greenwashing'. The arguments remain somewhat superficial and lack specific, concrete examples to support the claims. While the task is addressed, the depth of analysis is insufficient for a higher band score, as the ideas are not fully extended or supported with nuanced reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'To sum up', but they are sometimes used mechanically. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences can feel repetitive due to the limited variety of linking words. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks sophistication, often relying on simple sentence structures that do not effectively connect complex ideas. The overall structure is functional but lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There is significant repetition of phrases like 'environment friendly', 'eco-friendly', and 'eco-tourists'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the collocation is often awkward, such as 'boost up in eco-tourism industry' or 'awake public'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'raising levels' instead of 'rising levels'. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations to express ideas with greater precision and stylistic variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include 'majority of the population' (missing article), 'In result of this' (incorrect prepositional phrase), and 'to aware public' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex grammatical forms. Increasing the variety of sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the score.
