Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's era, the increase in global warming is an alarming situation for all, leading to the rapid increase in concern towards the environment. Thus, more and more people are choosing to be 'eco-tourists' - travelling in environmentally-friendly and responsible ways. As a consequence, the expansion of eco-tourism industry is taking place. I completely support this trend being a responsible citizen of this planet Earth. This action is highly needed to regain what's lost. The man is only responsible for his own actions and needs to compensate for the same.
While the increase in the tourism industry does increase the country's revenue and gives jobs to the local people, but on the other hand, it also leaves a great negative impact on the planet. With the increase in number of people at a tourist destination, comes the increase in number of vehicles leading to the increase in carbon emission, finally contributing to the ozone layer depletion. A substantial increase in the waste and noise is also widely observed.
The transformation of tourists to eco-tourists can be seen as an effective approach for being environment-friendly for the future. Adopting this approach means researching about your intended tourist destination before hand and then making your decision to visit or not. Citing my own experience, I recently travelled and adopted this approach. I used the public transportation instead of hiring own vehicle, ultimately reducing noise levels as well. I was also wary of my purchases and only purchased what's biodegradable and can be disposed properly.
In conclusion, eco-tourism is the future, which does not reduce the tourism necessarily but one travels with a deep concern towards the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of eco-tourism. You have identified both the benefits and the environmental costs of traditional tourism, which provides a balanced view. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that eco-tourism is an 'effective approach,' you could have expanded more on how it specifically mitigates the negative impacts mentioned in the second paragraph. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have summarized your main points more effectively to reinforce your position. Overall, the response is relevant and maintains a clear stance throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In today's era,' 'While,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel a bit repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'increase in' within the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the problem to the solution and personal experience. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and referencing to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'ozone layer depletion,' 'biodegradable,' and 'environmentally-friendly.' There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'The man is only responsible for his own actions' and 'before hand' (which should be one word: 'beforehand'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score. Attempting to use more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the expansion of eco-tourism industry' (missing an article: 'the eco-tourism industry') and 'I used the public transportation' (unnecessary article). Additionally, the sentence 'While the increase in the tourism industry does increase the country's revenue and gives jobs to the local people, but on the other hand, it also leaves a great negative impact' contains a redundant 'but' after the 'While' clause. Despite these errors, your meaning is consistently clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication.
