Student answer (Band 5.0)

in the past people used to travel by horses and camel which had no effects on the environment, but nowadays people use multiple ways to travel from a place to another place, like bikes, cars, planes, trains etc which impact our environment so much by pollution.

in a recent research Mr. tony stark and his team found that 60% of the world is polluted by dangerous gases released by cars and bikes, children's and old age people's are the main sufferer from this poison causing serious health issues like Asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and many more.

the majority of the people agreed with this research, children's and old age people's are the main sufferer from this which absolutely true, few years ago my uncle died from asthma caused by pollution, it is very important to reduce the pollution, and it can be done in many ways, first one is to plant as many trees we can, it is not only the governments responsibilities its also our responsibilities as a proud citizen to plant as many trees possible in our house garden or anywhere possible it will help so much to protect our environment, the second and the most effective one is to shift from petrol driven cars to electric cars which will play a big rule to protect our environment, and if tourists give more attention to eco friendly travel options then it will make a big impact on our environment, since the eco tourists sector is booming we can defiantly see a huge contribution in our environment.

in conclusion it is a positive trend which will help the environment so much.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the positive trend of eco-tourism. However, the development is somewhat unbalanced. The first two paragraphs focus heavily on general pollution and health issues rather than the specific topic of eco-tourism. While the connection is made in the third paragraph, the argument remains somewhat superficial. The position is clear, but the ideas are not fully extended or supported with specific examples related to the tourism industry itself, relying instead on general environmental advice like planting trees. To improve, ensure that the majority of the content directly relates to the specific prompt provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition from the historical context of travel to the health impacts of pollution, and finally to eco-tourism, feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or misused, such as the frequent use of 'and' to connect unrelated clauses. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear focus, making the flow of ideas somewhat difficult to follow at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of informal phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'big rule' instead of 'significant role' and 'defiantly' instead of 'definitely'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions, and the reliance on basic descriptors hinders the sophistication of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding punctuation, pluralization (e.g., 'children's and old age people's'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper coordination, such as the opening sentence. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. Punctuation is inconsistent, with many missing commas and incorrect capitalization at the start of sentences. These errors occur frequently and occasionally impede the reader's understanding.
