Student answer (Band 5.5)

Travelling has become one of the most popular way of spending the vacations and even weekends, since the rise in advancement, urban developments and jobs that demands more than half of your day spent within four walls of office. People often choose travelling as an escape to this monotonous routine , it more like savior for them . Ease and means of travelling has also drastically advanced compared to the old times , where one would not even think of leaving the comfort of their homes. This increase in tourists and visitors have both pros and cons. No doubt the fact that increase in tourism has improved the economy of countries by attracting tourists from local as well as international world but at the same time there was this threat to the nature of being polluted, by increased trend of tourism. keeping this fact in mind many educated and well mannered people has also shifted their focus on preserving the beauty of nature while enjoying what it has to offer. Many people have started volunteer programs of raising awareness among general population as to how you can both, enjoy nature and at the same time care for it. this has also given favorable environment to the emergence and expansion of eco-tourism industry. People are now becoming more aware of environmental problems that will pose the coming generations a lot of risk due to our negligence. They are now making conscious choice and taking responsibility of their actions. Last weekend i happened to come across a group of teenagers on trail 5 in Margilla hills, Islamabad, who were raising awareness and collecting trash and were part of one of the eco friendly tourist company, that was kind of marketing along side cleaning the environment and was such a pleasant sight.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the rise of eco-tourism and its positive nature. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you provide a personal example regarding the Margalla Hills, the essay lacks a clear, sustained position throughout. The introduction is quite broad and does not explicitly state your stance on the extent to which this is a positive trend. To improve, ensure you clearly outline your position in the introduction and dedicate distinct paragraphs to supporting your arguments with more depth, rather than relying on a single anecdotal example to carry the weight of the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is coherent overall, but the paragraphing is a significant issue. The entire response is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your ideas. IELTS essays require clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Additionally, while you use some cohesive devices like 'No doubt the fact that' and 'at the same time', the flow between sentences can be mechanical. Using a wider variety of linking words and organizing your thoughts into logical paragraphs would significantly improve the clarity and structure of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'monotonous routine', 'negligence', and 'eco-tourism'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'local as well as international world' (should be 'local and international levels') and 'favorable environment to the emergence' (should be 'favorable conditions for the emergence'). Some phrasing is slightly informal or awkward, such as 'it more like savior for them'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are consistently natural and academic in tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede the flow. For example, there are issues with subject-verb agreement ('jobs that demands', 'increase in tourists... have'), missing articles ('part of one of the eco friendly tourist company'), and inconsistent capitalization ('i', 'Margilla'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. While your meaning is generally clear, these recurring errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
