Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, it has become increasingly common for environment issues due to people are love to travel in environmentally friendly ways. In my opinion, I completely believe that this is a positive development because it protects nature and it helps local people. Both the views will be discussed further.

To begin with, the primary reason why this is a beneficial trend is that it protects nature. This means that regular tourists often throw plastic items and destroy nature. As a result, Eco-tourists respect the environment and stay in places that use solar energy or recycle waste. For instance, Tourists visiting Costa Rica pay to see rain forest and that money is used to protect the trees from being cut down.

Furthermore, another significant advantage to consider is that it helps local people such as it provides jobs and money to poor local communities. In other words, this leads to consequently, Instead of staying in big international hotels, eco-tourists buy local food, hire local guide, and stay in small family-owned cabins. A clear illustration of this is in many villages, locals earn a good living by working as eco-guides for trekking tourists.

In conclude, I firmly believe that many people like to travel to be eco-tourists is highly positive trend because it not only reason it protects nature but also it helps local people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that eco-tourism is a positive trend. However, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas regarding environmental protection and economic benefits for local communities are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped due to the brevity of the response. The conclusion is also quite repetitive and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure you meet the word count to allow for a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In other words'. However, some transitions are used incorrectly or awkwardly, such as 'This leads to consequently', which disrupts the flow. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression of ideas is slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed central theme that connects smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'protects nature' and 'helps local people' are used multiple times. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people are love to travel' instead of 'people love to travel' and 'hire local guide' instead of 'hire local guides'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to sustainability and tourism to demonstrate a wider range and better control over word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it has become increasingly common for environment issues due to people are love to travel' and 'In conclude'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and pluralization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding verb forms and sentence construction.
