Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 159 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and repetitive. While the student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a positive view on eco-tourism, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or logical depth. The response does not provide a clear, sustained position, and the brevity prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, the student must expand on their points with detailed explanations and relevant examples to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there are attempts at paragraphing and basic linking words like 'First' and 'Second', the transitions between ideas are often disjointed or confusing. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought. The overall structure is fragmented, and the lack of cohesive devices means that the ideas do not flow smoothly from one to the next. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. The student struggles with basic word forms and collocations, such as 'eco-tourists is there responsible to safe it' and 'positive effective'. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive language, and the misuse of words like 'safe' instead of 'save' or 'lisant' instead of 'listening' demonstrates a lack of control. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning accurate word forms and expanding their vocabulary related to environmental and tourism topics, ensuring they use words in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that make the text difficult to understand. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'our tourists is like'), sentence structure, and word order. The use of complex sentences is largely absent, and the errors in basic grammar, such as article usage and verb tense, are pervasive. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
