Student answer (Band 5.5)

As in 20th century environment has become a trend topic to talk about, this lead to growing concerns about how should humans develop programs to secure eco-systems safety. It is highly profitable to promote 'eco-tourists' - travelling in responsible environmentally-friendly ways as it protects natural habitats and local communities while reducing the carbon footprints of global travelers.

It is a positive trend to world heritage also for nature. I dead right agree on this because there are uncountable reasons to acknowledge it. expansion of eco-tourism industry is insurance of preservation of wildlife and biodiversity for future generations. It has evenly positive effects on economy in form of direct revenue for local communities helping small businesses to cut out on expenses they would have to spend on cleaning if travelers had created pollution. It also preserves indigenous traditions and fosters local pride instead of commercializing heritage. All the travelers associated with these eco-tourism trips get a chance to educate themselves climate change, conservation, and resource management.

However it is not a sure thing that choosing 'eco-tourists' always comes up with great advantages. There are for sure difficulties while processing. One of the hurdles is cost incurred on using renewable energy, waste systems and certified green practices. these methods and getting them in implementation is expensive for small operators.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the positive aspects of eco-tourism and acknowledging some challenges. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement (217 words), which limits the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'hurdles' in the final paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or a concluding synthesis to balance the argument. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a fully developed response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or awkward, such as 'It is a positive trend to world heritage also for nature' and 'I dead right agree'. Transitions between ideas are occasionally abrupt, and the referencing is sometimes unclear. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that the flow of logic is smoother throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of unnatural phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'trend topic', 'I dead right agree', and 'insurance of preservation'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of the argument. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'biodiversity', 'carbon footprints', and 'resource management', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary, and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with article usage ('the' 20th century), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing ('as it protects natural habitats... while reducing the carbon footprints'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and practice constructing more complex sentences with correct punctuation.
