Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is concerning that, our environment is being polluted in many ways. If this keep going than will face a great loss. But, nowadays people are being genunely concerned about our environment. Individuals are trying to be eco-friendly. They are travelling without polluting the nature. In my point of view, it is a very positive trend. In, this essay, I will try to explain the cause on environment pollution along with the positive side of being a eco-tourist.
To begin with, it is undeniable that our environment is becoming unhabitable for people also, for animals. The main cause of the problem is human it-self. Human pollute air, soil, water in many ways. Beside that, they do not take initial steps to control or to remore this junks. For instant, countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and many more countries are heavily pollouted. Still, people and the government do not take proper steps to clean it.
In contrast, if we teach people how to be more nature friendly, than we can make huge change. For example, there are many people who are willing available to clean the environment. Beside that, people now prefer to travel eco friendly area. They love travelling to mountains and beaches, where there are not many people. They try to help local culture also local people. Sometimes, they do not hesited to volunteer in environmental work although they have come to other country to travel.
In conclusion, eco-tourists are more like assist to a country. Because, instead of damaging the nature they try their best to solve it. For that reason, eco-tourism industries are growing rapidly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that the rise of eco-tourism is a positive trend and discussing the causes of environmental pollution alongside the benefits of eco-tourism. However, some ideas are under-developed or drift slightly from the prompt, such as the broad discussion on general pollution in countries like India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, which shifts the focus away from tourism itself. The introduction of causes of pollution in body paragraph one is somewhat tangential to the core question of whether the expansion of the eco-tourism industry is a positive trend. While the student attempts to support their position with relevant examples, the overall development lacks depth and precision. Therefore, this performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, separating the introduction, the discussion on pollution, the positive aspects of eco-tourism, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and sometimes faulty. Transitional markers like 'To begin with', 'In contrast', and 'In conclusion' are used, but their logical relationships are weak; for instance, 'In contrast' is used inappropriately to introduce the second body paragraph since it does not present a direct contrast to the preceding paragraph. Furthermore, referencing and pronoun usage occasionally become unclear, such as 'to solve it' in the final paragraph where the antecedent is ambiguous. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 range for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about the environment and tourism. However, there is a limited and sometimes inappropriate range of vocabulary. Noticeable errors in word choice and spelling appear throughout the text, such as 'genunely' instead of genuinely, 'unhabitable' instead of uninhabitable, 'it-self' instead of itself, 'remore' instead of remove, 'junks' instead of junk or waste, 'pollouted' instead of polluted, and 'hesited' instead of hesitated. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of precision. While the student attempts less common items like 'eco-tourism' and 'volunteer', the high frequency of lexical slips restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are often faulty. Examples of grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('our environment is being polluted... If this keep going than will face'), incorrect conditional structures ('than will face'), and missing articles or prepositions ('Human pollute air, soil, water', 'assist to a country', 'come to other country'). Punctuation errors are also present, such as unnecessary commas ('In, this essay'). Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause difficulty for the reader, but communication is still achieved overall. This corresponds closely to the Band 5 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
