Student answer (Band 5.0)

Environment plays an important role in Human's life and there is no doubt that the concern for the environment is growing very fast and people are concerned about it. Not just concerned people are finding ways to control the environment such as gowing trees as much as they can, travelling with less air pollution vehicles like electric cars and bikes and I think it is a good initiative to adapt. Though many people still not realising the importance of environment but it is matter of time they will also know the importance of environment.

A number of people are choosing to be eco-tourist and in my opinion it is a positive approach to tell other people the real value of nature, the essential need of water in our daily life, the use of electric vehicles instead of diesel or gasoline automobiles.

I think more and more people will be intrested in this eco-tourism industry and this industry will grow massively in numbers. For example there will be a group that will take tourists from other countries or cultures to a natural place and tell them the beauty of nature and how we should always take care of these types of places and avoid destroying them.

One more example is that, there is so common nowadays to cut the trees and built a society over it and they don't think even once that how it will damage the environment and after people's intrest in eco-tourism this will be stopped in no-time.

People will also travel in responsible, environmentally-friendly ways as much as they can to avoid any kind of pollution and I think in some extent it is win for eco-tourism industry.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the rise of eco-tourism is a positive trend, expressing a clear personal viewpoint. The writer attempts to develop ideas by giving examples, such as taking tourists to natural places and reducing deforestation. However, the development remains somewhat superficial and general. For instance, the example regarding building a society over cut trees lacks detailed support and is difficult to follow. Furthermore, the position is presented, but the arguments are not fully extended to meet the criteria for higher bands. The student covers the main parts of the task, earning a solid Band 5.5 to 6.0, fitting best into Band 5.5 due to under-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, but the paragraphing is somewhat erratic and fails to separate distinct ideas effectively (e.g., placing multiple disparate thoughts into single paragraphs). Logical progression is weak; transitions between sentences can feel abrupt, and cohesive devices are basic or repetitive, such as overusing 'and', 'for example', and 'I think'. The relationship between sentences is sometimes unclear, such as the transition into the discussion about deforestation. This places the text firmly at Band 5.0 for its limited and somewhat mechanical cohesion and lack of clear overall progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate to convey basic meaning, featuring terms like 'eco-tourism', 'environmentally-friendly', and 'gasoline automobiles'. However, the range is limited, and there are noticeable word-choice errors, such as 'gowing trees' instead of 'growing', 'intrested' instead of 'interested', and 'is so common' instead of 'it is very common'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but accuracy is lacking. The student's vocabulary supports basic communication but struggles with precision and naturalness, warranting a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complexity often result in grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'Though many people still not realising the importance...' and 'to some extent it is win for eco-tourism industry.' Punctuation is frequently missing or misused, leading to run-on sentences, such as the opening sentence which connects multiple clauses without proper punctuation. Frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar at a Band 5.0 level.
