Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the expansion of eco-tourism is a positive trend, satisfying the basic requirements of Task 2. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times confusing. For instance, in the second paragraph, the writer states that 'the environment is growing rapidly' and then immediately contradicts this or mentions unrelated points like 'high population' and 'carelessness'. While some relevant points regarding mental relaxation and natural beauty are raised, many sentences lack clear logical links to the main topic of eco-tourism. The ideas tend to be repetitive and under-developed, particularly when discussing the economic and technological aspects of the eco-tourism industry in the third paragraph. Overall, the response meets the minimum task requirements in terms of addressing the prompt, but the lack of fully developed supporting arguments places it at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a standard essay structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression within and between paragraphs is frequently disrupted by confusing transitions and disjointed sentences. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', 'In addition', and 'Consequently' are used, but they are often mechanically applied or misplaced, such as starting a sentence with 'While, environment is not growing rapidly...'. Referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal unity of the paragraphs is weak, as disparate ideas are lumped together. These organizational and cohesive weaknesses align with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'environment', 'nature', 'people', and 'beautiful'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the response, such as 'want to spent their leisure time' (spend), 'environmentally nature provide calm' (environment provides), and 'eco-tourists travelling'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'eco-tourism industry', 'development', and 'modern technology', but these terms are often used incorrectly or inappropriately within the context, as seen in phrases like 'the changes of population may decrease' and 'its provide great opportunity'. These persistent lexical inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent grammatical errors impede readability and distort meaning. Examples of errors include tense and verb form mistakes ('people want to spent', 'its provide'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions ('spend more money for development'). Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary commas disrupting sentence flow, such as 'clean, and fresh nature provide clean air, beautiful natural look'. Because complex sentences are frequently ungrammatical and errors are dense throughout the text, the response fits the Band 4.0 level for grammatical range and accuracy.
