Student answer (Band 5.0)

To commence with, nowadays people are preferring eco-friendly ways for travelling, to save our environment from the unnecessary things and I fully agree with it that this is the plus point. I believe that to protect environment is our main priority as if we preserve our ecosystem then in return we environment will take care us like by giving healthy air, pure water and the beautiful view. Additionally we can protect our environment in many different ways for instance, if an individual is going out for travelling they should have there some eco-friendly bags so that they will not throw any garbage here and there just put all the stuff in the bags and will throw in the dustbin and they should throw recycled items in the recycle one dustbin and garbage in the garbage one, meaning they should take care of cleaning.

In addition with, people should take the electric stove if they needed during travelling ,with this we can stop the pollution through fire and preserve the environment. As well as, people can go by themselves in the nearby places instead of taking vehicles, this will result less pollution. In addition with, individuals should not smoke, drink openly as this will harm the environment and almost half of the people follow all the things that i mentioned so that eco-tourism industry is increasing day by day which is the positive attitute.

In conclusion, to take care of our environment is our responsibility because we are living here, this is our home and people are aware of this responsibilty.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and takes a clear, supportive position on the growth of the eco-tourism industry, agreeing that it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies heavily on simplistic arguments rather than broader socio-economic or environmental analysis. For instance, the discussion focuses primarily on basic tourist behaviours such as carrying eco-friendly bags, using electric stoves, walking to nearby places, and avoiding smoking or drinking openly. While these are relevant actions, they read more like general travel tips rather than a fully developed exploration of the eco-tourism industry's impact as requested by the task. The ideas are presented without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples from wider knowledge or experience. Consequently, the response meets the basic requirements of addressing all parts of the task, but the depth of discussion remains restricted. This performance aligns best with Band 5.5, rounded to 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization with three distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, body, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical flow between ideas. The use of cohesive devices is frequently mechanical, awkward, or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with', 'In addition with', and repetitive phrasing like 'In addition with' at the start of the second body paragraph. Paragraphing is also poorly managed; the body paragraphs are excessively long, overly dense, and contain multiple disparate points crammed into single, run-on sentences without adequate breathing room. Referencing is occasionally confusing, as seen in phrases like 'throw recycled items in the recycle one dustbin and garbage in the garbage one'. Although the general progression of thought can be followed, the structural and cohesive weaknesses place this text firmly in the Band 5 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words and phrases such as 'eco-friendly', 'environment', 'travelling', and 'pollution'. There are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, for instance, 'people are preferring eco-friendly ways', 'save our environment from the unnecessary things', 'take the electric stove if they needed', and 'positive attitute'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'eco-tourism industry', 'preserve our ecosystem', and 'responsibility', but these are undermined by awkward phrasing and grammatical slips like 'we environment will take care us'. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, the frequent lexical errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing prevent the score from rising above Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures. The writer attempts some complex sentences, but these are frequently faulty, leading to severe run-on structures and punctuation issues. For example, the sentence beginning with 'Additionally we can protect our environment...' is a massive comma splice containing multiple clauses strung together. There are frequent errors in verb tense, article usage, and prepositions, such as 'to protect environment is our main priority', 'take care us', 'have there some eco-friendly bags', and 'go by themselves in the nearby places'. The high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies causes noticeable difficulty for the reader and means that error-free sentences are the exception rather than the norm. These patterns correspond to the descriptors for Band 5.0.
