Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely acknowledged that environmental problems has become increasingly contentious in contemporary societies. Therefore, authorities and environmentalists are introducing new methods to tackle this issue, particularly the widespread of eco-tourism and individual are also rapidly implementing these methods. I strongly believe this trend as positive due to its various environmental and economical benefits.
To start with, concerns to protect the environment is increasing and therefore, the majority of people are choosing to be eco-tourists, which has various advantages for individuals and environment. Introducing effectively ways of travelling, methods to recycle waste, and planting trees are making a big difference. Individuals are practically implementing environmentally friendly ways which are promoting natural environment and making atmosphere clean. This, as a result, providing home to some extinct species such as sparrows and crows, which typically live close to human, and also reducing some serious health issues in human.
Another positive aspect is that the cleanliness of tourist destinations promotes its popularity internationally, which would encourage a large number of visitors to visit tourist attractions. Furthermore, inceased number of tourists would contribute to economic growth and introduce job opportunities for local communities. Moreover, a continuous contact and communication of local people with foreign visitors, as a result, would spread their cultural traditions and lifestyle around the world. Overall, it is advantageous for connectivity and unity at international level.
Admittedly, although, making policies and implementing them can be challanging for environmentalist, indivudals, and authorities, its various number of benefits outweigh its demerits. This approach is both pragmatic and effective to protect the ecosystem of some species, reducing health issues, and overall, for financial growth.
In conclusion, the trend is excessively advantageous for governments and individuals to save resources, protect environment, cultural spread, and the economy of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear and well-developed position that eco-tourism is a positive trend. The ideas presented are generally relevant and extended, covering environmental benefits such as waste recycling and tree planting, as well as economic growth and cultural exchange. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as claiming the trend provides homes for sparrows and crows or reduces serious health issues without specific substantiation. Despite minor leaps in development, the task response is fully articulated throughout the essay, demonstrating a solid understanding of the requirements. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation throughout. Each body paragraph focuses on a distinct sub-topic, beginning with environmental advantages, moving to economic and cultural benefits, and addressing counter-arguments before the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Admittedly' are used to structure the text, although some referencing is slightly mechanical or repetitive, as seen with the frequent use of 'as a result'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas clearly. The cohesion is generally well-managed, satisfying the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0, and fits best into the Band 7 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'contentious', 'pragmatic', and 'ecosystem'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'environmental problems has become' (subject-verb agreement error affecting lexis/grammar overlap), 'widespread of eco-tourism', 'individual are also', and 'introducing effectively ways'. Additionally, spelling errors occur, including 'challanging', 'indivudals', and 'inceased'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, these frequent minor inaccuracies in word choice and spelling restrict the score to Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as concession ('Admittedly, although, making policies...') and relative clauses. However, frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('environmental problems has become', 'individual are also', 'concerns to protect... is increasing'), incorrect word forms ('Introducing effectively ways'), and punctuation or linking mistakes ('Admittedly, although'). While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they persist across the response and prevent the essay from reaching the Band 7 threshold where frequent error-free sentences are expected.
