Concern for the environment is growing rapidly and more and more people are choosing to be 'eco-tourists' - travelling in responsible, environmentally-friendly ways. As a result, the eco-tourism industry is expanding.
To what extent do you think this is a positive trend?

Student answer (Band 5.0)
The concern for environmental issues is high and is growing rapidly. This made many tourists to be more eco friendly and use only environment friendly means of transport so that it will be more effective on the pollution of nature. This causes a good rate of increase in eco tourism industry.
I think this is something which will definitely lead to a extent where all the people will surely leave the pollution causing transport and use only eco tourism to any extent possible. The travelling will be a bit difficult because due to bo proper means of transport many individuals might loose their travel experience, while the businesses will also be in trouble. This is because many people will not be able to attend all the meeting in every part of the country.
For example, if a individual is willing to travel the world in an eco friendly manner, he or she should definitely use aeroplanes which are not a friend to environment, so he or she cannot travel the world.
The main conflict in these eco tourism is that all the tourists will not get a chance of travelling the world at ease and will be much difficult for them to explore the world without causing any damage to the environment.
In conclusion, I would like to say that eco tourism is a very good goal that everyone must have but that goal is not completely fulfilled because it bot not possible for everyone to travel everywhere with no cause to the environment. So, some people should like business mans and few individuals should travel in a non eco friendly method in order to fulfill his or her needs of transport.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the growth of eco-tourism is a positive trend, but the development of ideas is limited and at times confusing. For instance, the writer states that travellers 'should definitely use aeroplanes which are not a friend to environment, so he or she cannot travel the world,' which reflects a contradictory and underdeveloped line of reasoning. The position is stated, but the arguments lack clarity and sufficient extension, often relying on simplistic assertions. As a result, the response fits into the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited, under-developed, and the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into five paragraphs, showing an attempt at organisation. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by unclear referencing and abrupt transitions. Phrases like 'This made many tourists to be more eco friendly' and 'The main conflict in these eco tourism is that...' make the flow awkward. Furthermore, cohesive devices are used inadequately or repetitively, such as the overuse of 'This is because' and 'This causes'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs fails to maintain a smooth logical thread. These features align with the Band 5 descriptor for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms such as 'eco tourism', 'environment', 'travel', and 'pollution'. There are noticeable word choice errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'bo proper means of transport', 'loose their travel experience', and 'business mans'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic topic, the limited range and frequent inaccuracies in word formation and collocation prevent the response from achieving a higher score. This corresponds closely to the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts some complex sentence structures, but these attempts are frequently faulty and accompanied by frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'This made many tourists to be...','if a individual is willing...', and 'it bot not possible for everyone'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. These frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over more complex grammatical forms, which is characteristic of the Band 5 level.
