To what extent do you think this is a positive trend?

The principal advantage of expanding eco-tourism is the direct support it provides for habitat conservation and biodiversity protection. Revenue generated from eco-tourists—through park entrance fees, conservation taxes, and guided tours—is frequently funneled into safeguarding endangered ecosystems and funding anti-poaching operations. For instance, in countries like Rwanda, gorilla trekking fees directly finance habitat restoration and wildlife security forces. Furthermore, eco-tourism educates travelers on environmental ethics, cultivating a global demographic that is more mindful of its ecological footprint.

Beyond environmental benefits, the growth of responsible travel yields significant socio-economic gains for host communities. Traditional tourism often results in economic leakage, where profits flow to multinational hotel chains rather than residents. Conversely, authentic eco-tourism relies on local infrastructure, employing indigenous guides, drivers, and lodge staff.
