Student answer (Band 5.0)

As we all know about the global warming is kept increasing, people are choosing to be 'echo-tourists', but in my opinion this is a negative trend and i strongly disagree with 'eco-tourism'.

Overall, Tourism is a pasion but as they are concern about the enviroment and global warming they must stay to their homes and try to plant trees and make their country green which can reduce enviromental threads. Furthermore, They can start a mission about the green areas in their neighbourhood and in their countries although, they are trying to be more eco-friendly but they are contributing in the global warming for example: They travel to other cities or countries which are more green and has much clean air they are using their cars and aeroplanes to reach to their destination which causes pollution and carbon emittion which is the main reason for global warming and polluted air and they are also damageing the enviroment of green lands.

Although, It is becoming an expanding industry which is good and benificial for our and their countries economy this trend should not be responsibe for travelling but toursim industry is already a profitablr industry which is gradually increasing from past 10 years, Another reason that everyone is choosing eco-tourism beacuse they are influenced by the social media, everyone have to be more soft-harted and concered about their country and the world on the social media they just want to go there are post about that on media and gain trust and sympathy from rest of the world.

At the end, I will say that becoming an eco-tourist doesn't help our enviroment to be clean but damaging it by pollution that tourists are making.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The candidate addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against eco-tourism, arguing that it contributes to global warming rather than helping the environment. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that people should just stay at home and plant trees is underdeveloped and borders on over-generalisation. Furthermore, the discussion regarding social media influence introduces a slightly tangential point about motives rather than fully focusing on the environmental impact of the trend itself. Because all parts of the task are addressed but ideas lack full extension and academic depth, the response achieves a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text suffers from severe issues with paragraphing and sentence boundary punctuation. The second paragraph is an extremely long, run-on block of text containing multiple distinct ideas linked haphazardly by conjunctions such as 'Furthermore' and 'although'. Cohesive devices are often used inaccurately, such as starting a clause with 'although' without providing a contrasting outcome, or using lower-case letters after full stops. While there is an overall attempt to organise the essay with an introduction, body, and conclusion, the mechanical and faulty use of cohesion places this component firmly at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several spelling errors ('pasion', 'enviroment', 'threads', 'emittion', 'damageing', 'benificial', 'responsibe', 'profitablr', 'beacuse', 'soft-harted'). The candidate attempts some less common phrases like 'eco-tourists', 'expanding industry', and 'carbon emittion', but frequent word choice and spelling errors ('echo-tourists') impede communication in places. The range is minimally adequate for expressing simple opinions on the topic, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. This performance corresponds to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The student relies heavily on long, poorly punctuated compound-complex sentences that run on without proper grammatical control (e.g., 'They travel to other cities or countries which are more green and has much clean air they are using their cars...'). There are frequent errors in verb agreement ('which are more green and has'), tense consistency, and article usage. Complex structures are attempted, but they are frequently faulty and cause difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is a major weakness, with comma splices and missing capital letters. These frequent errors across both simple and complex structures reflect a Band 4.5.
