Student answer (Band 5.5)
Pollution is causing a major change in the climate. However, people are trying to be more environment-friendly and becoming eco-tourists. Which means they are travelling in a responsible manner due to which the industry of eco-tourism is booming.
Climate change is a major cause of this trend and I believe this to be an extremely positive approach towards a responsible and eco-friendly future for us and our coming generations. Travelling to the mountains and littering them is causes major problems in the climate and for the locals residing there as well. Moreover, cars that causes polution should not be used in those areas as the environment gets affected tremendously. Travelling in a more enironmentally-friendly way is a great initiative taken by a group of individuals.
According to a survey by Sunday Times, Pakistan's northern area is becoming a secret destination for travellers all over the world. As It has so much to offer but the people of Pakistan are making that place filled with litter and plastic that is affecting the outlook and environment of those mountains. There are several societies in Pakistan working on this very initiative, where they travel to the northern areas of Pakistan to collect all the garbage, making people aware of this certain problem.
In a nutshell, Climate change has caused disasters and to prevent such things from happening again is taking initiative like eco-tourism which means travelling with responsibilty so that we can make this world a better place for upcoming generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the trend of eco-tourism and clearly stating a position that it is an extremely positive approach. However, there is a penalty for length because the student's text contains 248 words, falling just short of the 250-word minimum requirement. While the ideas regarding littering and climate change are relevant, the development remains somewhat general and lacks deep elaboration. For instance, the example about Pakistan's northern areas is introduced but not fully connected back to a sustained analysis of the eco-tourism industry as a whole. Consequently, the response meets the criteria for Band 5.5, as it addresses the task and presents a clear position, but the under-length nature and limited idea development restrict a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is organised into four paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. However, the logical progression is at times disrupted by abrupt transitions and sentence fragments. For example, the sentence starting with 'Which means they are travelling...' is a dependent clause punctuated as a separate sentence. Cohesive devices are used, but some referencing is unclear, such as 'is causes major problems' and vague pronoun references in the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow of ideas lacks seamless connection. These mechanical errors in cohesion place the response comfortably at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use less common items such as 'eco-tourists', 'residing', and 'outlook'. However, there are notable word-choice errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, including 'littering them is causes', 'cars that causes polution', and 'making that place filled with litter'. Spelling and word formation are generally acceptable, but the frequent slips in phrasing prevent the lexical range from achieving a higher band. The vocabulary used is minimally adequate to convey the writer's ideas, earning a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are several noticeable grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('cars that causes polution'), fragment sentences ('Which means they are travelling in a responsible manner...'), and prepositional slips ('making people aware of this certain problem'). Punctuation is occasionally misused, particularly around conjunctions and introductory phrases. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, aligning the grammar with a Band 5.5.
