Student answer (Band 5.5)

Concern for the ecosystem is developing fastly and number of the individuals is increasing who are opting to be eco-tourists, having responsible journeys and eco freindly methods. As a consequence eco- tourism industry is growing. This trend is defenitely enhancing the quality of habitate for living organisms.

To begin with as a tourist normally common people use individual vehicles which can carry few members of family this ultimately leads to global warming and climate change as more carbon emission by personal transport than using local transport. While moving to public transport can reduce the effect of carbon emission and mere chances of land sliding and decreased number of floods which yearly cause a huge number of mortalities and damage to infrastructure of that particular area. For instance, many countries have devised laws to protect the ecosystem by introducing public transport like metro for visitors.Futhermore, if visitors choose to be eco friendly then it will trigger the sense of positivity and calmness.

Moreover, a huge number of visitors visit beauty of nature by visiting mountains and lakes, often individuals throw their leftover food and plastic in open areas which may affect the natural habitate of that place. As plastic bags take hunderds of years to decompose into soil which affectsthe fertility of lands and saverage system in that area. So individuals moving from throwing plastic bags in open area to recycle them, ultimately protects te habitate and beneficial for mankind. For instance, I visited skardu by choosing group travel and there were obvious sign boards indicating not throw plastic bags by administration.

In a nutshell, the government should impose more strict laws and legislation on using personal transport for travel for vacations and also impose tariffs on use of plastic bags usage ,so that it can help citizens to be more attracted to eco freindly tourism and ultimately it also stabalize the country's economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position that the trend of eco-tourism is generally positive. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the reduction of carbon emissions and the protection of natural habitats from waste, fulfilling the requirements for this level. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient extension. For instance, the point regarding public transport and land sliding is somewhat unclear and lacks logical elaboration, while the personal anecdote about Skardu is brief and lacks broader analytical support. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all main points with extended explanations and more robust, detailed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established from the beginning, and logical paragraphing is attempted. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, and referencing is not always clear. While cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' are used to structure the text, internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. For example, sentences in the second paragraph are strung together abruptly, making the logical progression disjointed at times. To achieve a higher score, the writer must use a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that referencing words clearly link ideas across sentences without confusing the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'ecosystem', 'carbon emission', and 'legislation'. However, noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form are present throughout the essay, which occasionally impede communication. Examples include spelling errors like 'fastly' instead of 'rapidly', 'freindly' instead of 'friendly', 'habitate' instead of 'habitat', 'saverage' instead of 'sewage', and 'stabalize' instead of 'stabilize'. Additionally, collocation and word choice are sometimes awkward, such as 'beauty of nature by visiting mountains'. To improve, the writer should expand their lexical control, focus on correct word formation, and ensure accurate spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. However, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation that require attention. Errors include missing articles (e.g., 'number of individuals', 'use of plastic bags usage'), incorrect preposition use, and issues with subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries (e.g., run-on sentences in the final paragraph). While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving error-free sentence patterns. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and exercise greater control over articles, plurals, and punctuation.
