Student answer (Band 5.5)

As environmental awareness is increasing day by day. More people are opting to become eco-tourists, that is, travelling in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner. As a result, the eco- tourism sector is developing. I think it is a positive way to see the natural habitat and local culture.

On the one hand, it allows people to visit the natural habitats of the world. People usually form a small group and visit the eco-friendly environment. That helps them to see the natural beauty and allows them to cherish it. Such places offer them mental peace and relaxation. By visiting hilly areas, beautiful and enchanting lakes, fairy meadows, and evergreen forests. It develops a sense in them to protect the environment. For example, in China, tourists visit the northern areas. This allows them to see a lot of hidden beauties. They capture them in the eyes of the camera. That arouses the desire in other people to visit such places.

On the other hand, by visiting a lot of natural places, tourists meet different kinds of people that belongs to different cultures. That enables them to understand and enjoy different cultures. For example, in Pakistan, tourists usually visit the northern areas. Where they meet a lot of peoples belongs to different tribes. They spend their time with them to understand their culture. Such as, the famous dance Attan belongs to the tribe of the northern areas. Wearing colourful jackets have a cap with beautiful designs. All these things allow them to visit natural places again.

In Conclusion, I would like to say. With the increase in urbanization. Eco- tourism is expanding to a great extent. That allows people to relax and enjoy nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether eco-tourism is a positive trend, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. While a basic position is presented, it is not always fully clear or consistently maintained throughout. For instance, the discussion on natural habitats mentions visiting hilly areas and lakes, but the supporting examples are brief and lack depth, such as the mention of tourists visiting northern areas in China and Pakistan. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support arguments with more specific explanations and fully develop the implications of why eco-tourism is beneficial rather than relying on generalized statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with distinct paragraphs used, but the overall progression of ideas lacks clarity. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inadequate, and referencing is not always clear. For example, sentences such as 'By visiting hilly areas... It develops a sense in them...' break up the flow and disrupt logical sequencing. Additionally, paragraph transitions could be smoother. To achieve a higher score, the writer must ensure that sentences connect more naturally, referencing pronouns are used accurately to link ideas across sentences, and the overall progression guides the reader seamlessly from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'enchanting lakes' and 'urbanization', but struggles with word choice, word form, and collocations. Examples of lexical issues include writing 'peoples belongs' and using fragments incorrectly. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their range of vocabulary, ensuring correct word forms and collocations, and paying closer attention to precision so that expressions convey meaning naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent simple sentences and sentence fragments that interrupt the flow of writing, such as 'By visiting hilly areas, beautiful and enchanting lakes, fairy meadows, and evergreen forests. It develops a sense in them to protect the environment.' Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, and there are frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and fragments. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures accurately and reduce basic structural errors, ensuring that sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
