Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the rise of eco-tourism is a positive trend, and it provides relevant supporting ideas regarding environmental protection and community benefits. However, the response is under-developed in places, presenting general points without sufficient extension or detailed examples. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the minimum two hundred and fifty words required for this task. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend their ideas with more detailed explanations and ensure the minimum word count is satisfied.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'First and foremost', 'To add further', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transitions and repetitive structuring of the body paragraphs. To improve, the writer should work on smoother integration of cohesive links and more precise referencing across sentences to enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'eco-travellers', 'carbon emission', and 'accommodation'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'resposible', 'environment-frindly', 'popularity' instead of trend, and 'utlized'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited ability to control less common lexical items. A wider and more accurate vocabulary range, along with careful proofreading for spelling, is needed for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a limited range of structures, showing a mix of simple sentences and flawed attempts at complex ones. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('environment is growing frequently', 'This result in'), incorrect verb forms ('Travellers utlized', 'to reduces'), and missing or incorrect articles. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic and complex sentence patterns, ensuring greater grammatical accuracy across all verb tenses and forms.
