Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued by some people that environment getting worse and the concerns for the environment is rapidly increasing, so people are deciding to be eco-tourists. Although some might disagree with this statement, but I completely agree with this statement. Not only because the environmental protection and community support, but also because of traveler education.

There are multiple benefits associated with eco-tourism. Firstly, it gives protection to the local environment. As when the tourists went to any country for visit they should follow the rules not to threw the garbage anywhere. Take an example of Japan, the government have rules and regulations for the tourists. If tourists do angaist the rules which is damaging their environment they fined them. Thus, eco-tourism protects environment.

Secondly, it gives the community support. As the tourist become eco friendly it creates jobs that help the local economy and also it inproves the infrastructure of the local areas. For instence, Germany, the government took action on eco-tourism in 2013, it increased the jobs apportunties for locals and improves the infrastructure. Hence, eco-tourism also beneficial for the community support.

Finally, it also helps in traveler education. As the tourist build awareness about the place and history about that place that improves their knowlege.

To sum up, I believe that the concerns about the enviroment are true so people are choosing to be eco-tourists that's good thing. I am completely agree with this statemnst not only beacuse that it improves the environment and community supports, but also it increase knowledge of the tourists and it also promotes last habits and history of that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favour of the eco-tourism trend, providing reasons such as environmental protection, community support, and traveler education. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed, which keeps the response at this level. For instance, the points about Japan and Germany are introduced with minimal explanation and lack sufficient extension. The conclusion also introduces new ideas rather than effectively summarising the main points. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to fully develop each of their supporting arguments with more detailed explanations, specific examples, and better elaboration of how these factors contribute to the positive nature of the trend.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident in the essay, with clear paragraph breaks used to separate distinct points, such as environmental protection and community support. However, there is no clear overall progression across the text, and the flow between sentences can feel disjointed due to mechanical and repetitive use of cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun usage referring back to previous clauses. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that ideas progress logically from one to the next and employ a wider, more flexible range of cohesive devices without relying on rigid formulas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic ideas about tourism and the environment. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation throughout the text, such as 'angaist' instead of against, 'threw' instead of throw, 'inproves' instead of improves, and 'apportunties' instead of opportunities. These inaccuracies occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical repertoire. To progress, the student should expand their vocabulary range, practice correct word forms, and focus on accurate spelling and collocations associated with environmental topics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic conjunctions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, such as in the opening sentence: 'It is often argued by some people that environment getting worse and the concerns for the environment is rapidly increasing...', which contains missing auxiliary verbs and subject-verb agreement errors. Frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and sentence construction occur throughout the response, causing some difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures with improved accuracy and better control over basic sentence mechanics.
