Student answer (Band 6.0)

Environmental issues have become a major conerns in many parts of the world as human activites continue to place increasing pressure on natural resources. Eco-tourism is an advacement step in protecting the environment through implementing an itinerary which involves eco-friendly ways of travelling. This has lead eco-tourism industry to upscale their presence. I strongly believe that this initiative has shown promising results by achieving high levels of biodiversity restoration.

One of the main reason that I believe so is, the tremendous restorating in biodiversity by spreading awareness in tourist about the environament and that how one can damage the surroudings of nature. Eco-tourism have introduce a uniqe way of travelling, which allows individuals to explore nature more profundly, in ways that reduces the wastage of resources. For a example, state forest of Canada has open ways for eco-tourism industry. In which they only allow walking as a mode of transportation on site. This has significantly reduced the carbon emissions caused by commerical cars, which ultimately results in poor air quality.

Another siginficant reason is that eco-tourisim practicing companies have contributed towards reforestation in many of region. Particularly the one's that are in their travelling plans. This is ideally done by adding programs such as seed planting. To cite a example, many eco-tourism businesses offer fun activites in their camp. And seed planting is one of them, in which each tourist gets to plant a seed in their designated spot. Thus this demonstrated how such companies play their part in restoring the environment.

In conclusion, Although many proponets of comfortable travelling presents a contention that choosing eco-tourism go in vain, I strongly belive that rising awareness towards eco-toursim and adaptation eco-friendly ways will not only provide novelty in tourist's experience but also help in conversing and restoring biodiversity of environment

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear, consistent position throughout the essay regarding the positive nature of eco-tourism. The writer covers relevant main ideas, such as biodiversity restoration and reforestation efforts, and attempts to extend them with specific examples, such as the state forest in Canada. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the explanation of how reduced carbon emissions directly result in improved air quality is somewhat general and lacks deeper analytical depth. Furthermore, there is a tendency to slightly over-generalize certain claims. To reach the next higher band, the writer would need to fully develop all main points with more precise, elaborated supporting details and maintain a consistently rigorous extension of ideas from introduction to conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear central topic running from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from the definition and impact of eco-tourism to specific examples of reduced transport emissions and reforestation programs. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or slightly faulty, with transitional phrases and referencing that could be smoother. For example, expressions like 'To cite a example' reveal slightly repetitive or rigid cohesive patterns. To achieve a higher level, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices while ensuring referencing is consistently precise and unobtrusive throughout the entire text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'biodiversity restoration', 'itinerary', and 'reforestation'. However, there are noticeable word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors that occasionally surface, though they do not seriously impede communication. Examples include spelling inaccuracies like 'conerns', 'activites', 'advacement', 'restorating', 'environament', 'surroudings', 'uniqe', 'profundly', 'proponets', and 'belive', alongside awkward collocations such as 'advacement step'. To move up to the next band, the writer needs to expand their range of less common lexical items while exercising greater precision and control over word formation and spelling to ensure accuracy throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, showing an ambition to use varied syntactic forms such as relative clauses and participial phrases. There are, however, some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'Eco-tourism have introduce', 'tourist about the environament', 'choosing eco-tourism go in vain', and 'adaptation eco-friendly ways'. Despite these errors, the structures are generally controlled well enough that they rarely impede communication. To attain a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns and significantly reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, ensuring that the majority of complex structures are entirely error-free.
