Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, environmental awarness has grown significantly in the tourism sector, nowadays enviromental concerns in trourism industry is expanding day-by-day, people are choosing to be eco-tourists to reduce carbon footprints by travelling in shared transport to reduce CO2. I completely agree, its an positive trend to increase the eco-tourism industry.
In the current era of scientific and technological progress we find ourselves in a modern world, where governments, and private institutes are working to boost eco tourism to protect the environment, and wild life. Tourists are guided first, how they can explore tourists spots while maintaining it clean and welcoming for others through different environment proctection webinars in the start of their trips.
I believe this initiative will help local communities to grow their businesses. people living near natural destinations can generates direct financial income, and fair employment. The locals of hunza valley getting jobs as eco-tour guides. In contrast, the tourists can spend their quality time in nature without harming the environment. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, successfully arguing that the rise of eco-tourism is a positive trend. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the economic benefits to local communities and the reduction of carbon footprints through group travel. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the mention of the Hunza valley and the group of 20 people cuts off abruptly and remains under-developed. To reach a higher level, the student needs to fully extend and support all examples without trailing off, ensuring every main point is comprehensively explained and tied directly back to the central thesis regarding the overall impact of the industry.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to organise ideas into logical paragraphs, fulfilling the basic structural requirements of an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear. For example, the transition between sentences can feel disjointed due to repetitive phrasing, and words like 'In contrast' are used inaccurately where no contrasting relationship actually exists with the preceding point. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires smoother transitional devices and better logical flow. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive markers naturally and ensure that pronouns and demonstratives clearly refer back to their intended antecedents.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'carbon footprints', 'financial income', and 'eco-tour guides'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'awarness' instead of awareness, 'enviromental' instead of environmental, 'trourism' instead of tourism, 'proctection' instead of protection, 'concered' instead of concerned, 'torism' instead of tourism, and 'aducate' instead of educate. While these spelling slips and minor lexical inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary control, ensure correct word forms, and eliminate frequent spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as relative clauses and conditional-like constructions. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical and punctuation issues include subject-verb agreement problems ('enviromental concerns in trourism industry is expanding'), run-on comma splices ('people living near natural destinations can generates direct financial income...'), missing articles ('its an positive trend'), and a dangling sentence fragment near the end ('For instance , a group of 20 people p'). To move up, the writer needs to increase the frequency of error-free sentences, improve punctuation control, and ensure accurate verb forms and articles across a wider variety of complex structures.
