Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern life, eco-tourism industry is becoming increasingly important. Nowadays many people believe that eco tourism industry is a positive trend. Others argue that it may lead several problems. I believe it is a positive trend its benefits far outweigh its advantages. In this essay i will explain the reasons for my opinion.

There are several reason why i hold this view. The primary reason is that eco-tourism industry enables people to travel more safely in a harsh environment, because they have team and all the resources to make travel safe. Moreover, it provides additional advantages such as people dont need to worry about the responsibilities of travel. They should only pay to these industries and make their travel safe, In other words, topic places people in a more favorable positions to improve their quality of life, achieve their goals and enhance their overall well-being.

Another significant point is that topic not only affects individuals but also has a considerable impact on society as whole. For example, because of these industry people visit more to new places safely as a result government would gain revinue. Furthermore, its positive influence extends to both society and the economy. This makes an important issue that deserves careful consideration. This is why many people support it.

To conclude, Although eco-tourism industry may have a few minor drawbacks, its advantages are far more significant. Therefore, I believe that it is a trend that should be welcomed with caution

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally, which is reflected in the low band. Additionally, it must be noted that the response falls short of the required word count, containing only 243 words against the minimum of 250. The writer attempts to address the prompt by stating an opinion that eco-tourism is a positive trend, but the ideas presented are severely limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument that eco-tourism 'enables people to travel more safely in a harsh environment because they have a team' demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of what eco-tourism actually is, confusing it with extreme adventure tourism or guided expeditions. The position is stated at the beginning, but the supporting arguments lack clarity and relevance, failing to truly engage with the environmental and societal implications of responsible tourism.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organization, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, placing it in the mid-range band. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or over-used. For example, the writer relies heavily on repetitive transitional phrases like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' without properly connecting the logical relationships between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of the body paragraphs is disrupted by vague referencing, such as using the generic word 'topic' instead of appropriate pronouns or lexical links. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to ensure that each paragraph has a distinct central topic with logical progression and varied, accurate cohesive ties.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. The writer demonstrates a basic, repetitive range of words, frequently misusing terms such as 'topic places people' instead of appropriate phrasing, and 'gained revinue' which contains a spelling error. Attempts at less common vocabulary result in unnatural collocations and awkward expressions, such as 'trend that should be welcomed with caution' contradicting the earlier stated strong positive stance. To improve to a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, learn precise word choices and collocations related to environmental topics, and pay closer attention to standard spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation are present throughout the text, which can cause difficulty for the reader. There are notable issues with capitalization and punctuation, such as 'In this essay i will explain' and missing commas before clauses. Furthermore, there are basic subject-verb agreement errors and article omissions, such as 'eco-tourism industry is becoming' missing the article, and 'because of these industry' showing plural-singular mismatch. Complex sentence attempts often break down due to poor clause integration. To achieve a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentence forms and improve control over basic grammatical rules.
