Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is saying that if you protect mother nature, mother nature will protect you. In my opinion i strongly agree with the raising concerns of environment and majority of people relying on eco friendly travel. The eco-tourism industry is expanding and I think it has positive impacts.

Firstly, a safe environment is very important in order to sustain. There is no doubt that many people are concerned about environment when they are travelling, and chooses eco-friendly travel. For an instance, if one is travelling to any other country and renting a car, there is an option to select electric car, which runs on a battery not fuel, that reduces risk of pollution. Not only car, now even public transports are opting for electric models, because public transport are very frequent and reliable. Pollution is a major problem in metropolitan cities where population is more and travel from one place to another is increasing rapidly. Secondly, people are depending on eco-friendly things for their daily needs rather than plastic ones. To examplify, nowadays people and resturants are using paper or wooden culteries rather than plastic ones, because plastic is harmful for environment. Each and every individiual is following this trend of eco-friendly environment learning and teaching more and more to protect and nuture this environment. In this socially growing world, individuals are getting responsible and are pushing eco-tourism industry.

In my conclusion, i wuld like to highlight that tourists travelling and choosing eco-friendly travel has only positive effects on the environment and upcoming generation to protect nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the extent to which the expansion of eco-tourism is a positive trend, establishing a clear position of strong agreement in the introduction. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For instance, while you mention electric cars and public transport as examples of eco-friendly travel, the discussion remains somewhat superficial rather than deeply exploring the broader economic, environmental, or social consequences of this global trend. Similarly, the shift towards wooden cutlery is mentioned as an example, but this ventures slightly away from core tourism issues into general environmental practices. To move to a higher band, you need to fully develop your main points with more specific, extended explanations and examples directly tied to the tourism industry.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Logical progression is visible through the use of sequencing devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, the transition between sentences can feel abrupt, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'this eco-friendly environment learning'. Paragraphing is present, but the body of the essay is grouped into one large block rather than being broken down into separate, well-managed topical paragraphs for distinct ideas like transport versus daily habits. To improve, ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and fluidly, and organise your thoughts into distinct paragraphs for each major point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate basic ideas about the environment and tourism. You make attempts at less common vocabulary items, such as 'metropolitan cities', 'sustainable', and 'nurture', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation. Examples of errors include 'culteries' (cutlery), 'individiual' (individual), 'resturants' (restaurants), and the unconventional phrasing 'eco-friendly environment learning'. Furthermore, there is a reliance on repetitive phrasing around the terms 'eco-friendly' and 'environment'. These errors and limitations mean the vocabulary sits firmly in the middle tier. To enhance your lexical resource, you should focus on accurate spelling, appropriate word forms, and incorporating a wider variety of precise collocations related to environmental topics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms, with attempts at more intricate structures often resulting in faulty execution. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the raising concerns of environment'), subject-verb agreement ('public transport are'), prepositions, and punctuation. For instance, sentences like 'There is saying that if you protect mother nature...' lack necessary articles and capitalization, and the phrase 'tourists travelling and choosing eco-friendly travel has only positive effects' exhibits awkward grammatical patterns. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, you must demonstrate better control over a wider variety of complex grammatical structures and reduce the frequency of basic errors.
