Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt only partially, discussing both positive and negative aspects of eco-tourism as well as economic benefits and environmental protection. However, the position is not always clear, and the development of ideas is limited. For example, while the writer mentions that traditional travelers create environmental pollution and private companies cut down trees, this idea remains under-developed without specific elaboration. Furthermore, the final paragraph attempts to discuss Indian travelers making a mess, but this example is somewhat tangential and lacks precise integration into the main argument about global eco-tourism trends. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported arguments throughout all body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic linkers and run-on structures like 'due to that' and 'moreover' to connect clauses. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion is weak due to extremely long, rambling sentences that lack appropriate punctuation breaks. For instance, the entire opening paragraph is constructed as a single, unpunctuated run-on sentence. To achieve a higher standard, the writer must ensure logical sequencing between sentences, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices, and apply proper paragraphing practices.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'enviorment' instead of environment, 'permotes' for promotes, 'presiving' for preserving, 'accomodation' for accommodation, and 'benifits' for benefits. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'eco-tourism industry is booming' and 'economic benefits', but these are offset by frequent spelling inaccuracies and awkward phrasing like 'doing tenting' or 'creste more employement'. To improve lexical scores, the writer needs to expand the range of vocabulary, control word forms more accurately, and eliminate recurring spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions or faulty dependent clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are often grammatically flawed, such as in the phrase 'if preserved the enviorment thhis thing doest comed this is due to no one obey the laws', which results in severe breakdown in meaning. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, such as 'people are getting aware' and 'local communities' lacking proper prepositional attachment. Punctuation is largely absent or misused, creating massive run-on sentences. To progress, the writer must demonstrate a better mix of simple and complex sentence forms with improved control over basic grammatical boundaries and punctuation.
