Student answer (Band 5.5)
Environment is facing facing great threats due to pollution due to which many natural disasters like flood, landslide and drough are emerging which causes loss of natural habitat along whith human lives. Inorder to preserve environment 'eco-tourists' word has also played a great role in saving environment. It consists of travelling in responsible, environmentally-friendly ways due to which other tourists are also preferring this method. As a result, eco-tourism is expanding in many countries and has bought a positive trend.
I think this is a positive trend because it builds a civilized tourists which locals love and play great role in conserving environment. Eco-tourists are responsible due to which they clean nature instead of making dirty unlike other tourist. These tourists prefer travelling in environmentally friendly ways which contributes in reducing pollution and also make them healthy if they are walking or cycling. It may be a small foot step but it plays a great role when many people follow same path.
I have seen both responsible and irresponsible tourist during my visit in pokhara city where family from different countries visit. During my visit i noticed locals were bad mouthing irresponsible tourist while responsible ones who took care of environment were treated warmly by locals. Eco-tourists is a great way inorder to get fair treatment while preserving environment. Everybody knows that if everybody manages their waste no environment will be polluted but they don't follow eco-tourists are great examples of this saying.
Overall, I think it is a positive trend due to it making one's country clean and environment fresh and it also impacts other country by reducing climate change which has became a common topic among everyone. It also leaves a good impact of locals towards those people and whole country which make them close supporting globalization.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that eco-tourism is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the discussion regarding health benefits such as 'walking or cycling' and the personal anecdote about visiting 'pokhara city' are somewhat superficial and lack deeper extension. While the main ideas—environmental preservation and local community relations—are relevant, some points are under-developed or rely on broad generalisations rather than fully elaborated arguments. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide more thorough explanations and more concrete, well-developed examples to support the core stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the four-paragraph structure is appropriate for an academic essay. However, progression is sometimes hindered by basic and mechanical cohesive devices. Words like 'due to which' are overused across sentences, and referencing is not always clear, such as in the phrase 'eco-tourists are great examples of this saying' where the logical link to the preceding sentence is weak. Paragraphs generally focus on distinct points—such as environmental benefits and personal observations—but internal transitions within paragraphs need to be smoother and more varied to guide the reader effortlessly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items related to the topic, such as 'environmentally-friendly,' 'eco-tourism,' and 'natural habitat.' However, the range is limited and there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation. Examples include 'bad mouthing' instead of speaking unfavourably, 'foot step' instead of step, and awkward phrasing like 'bought a positive trend' instead of brought about. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'Inorder' and 'drough.' These lexical inaccuracies and the repetition of basic descriptive words restrict the response, preventing it from showing the precision and flexibility expected at higher levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There is a noticeable presence of frequent errors, particularly with missing or incorrect articles ('Environment is facing facing great threats'), prepositional phrase patterns, and run-on sentences that string clauses together without appropriate punctuation. For instance, the opening sentence contains repetitive phrasing ('due to pollution due to which') and lacks necessary punctuation to separate distinct clauses. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and demonstrate that attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty.
