Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, people are worried about the impact on the surroundings hence an increased number of people are opting to take the responsibility of eco friendly travel leading to an expansion in the eco-tourism sector. Huge campaigns and information departments are being carried around the globe that talk about having a safe and clean environment, still, a large proportion of the population is unaware of such eco-friendly tours.
The increase in the devastating effects on the environment have enabled many individuals to consider cleanliness as part of their lives and it is noticeable as many travelers have taken steps to prevent littering around the world. For instance, a large number of travelers used to go to northern areas of Pakistan and every season many individuals including the locals had complaints regarding the open garbage and trash disposal ways. However, a sudden drop in such issues is seen as many individuals are playing an important part in generating cleaning campaigns at tourist spots. Adding on, many organizations have been set up to raise voice against the pollution done by tourists that also include academic help to the public by giving them the exposure about environmental effects and their causes inviting them to be the part of eco-tourism sector. For example, organizations like WWF educate people about the environmental affects making sure everyone takes responsibility of the surroundings while going on a tour.
In contrast to this, environmental problems are growing at a faster rate and it is quite visible that it is uncontrollable. The major reason is that people are reluctant in enjoying their lives while giving less importance to the environmental issues. For example, garbage and pollution plays an important part for a tourist spot like Sea View in Karachi, but majority of the people focus on having fun there rather than considering the adverse effects of polluting the place.
A large number people are becoming eco-tourists to support a clean environment as they are exposed to the information about environmental issues and many individuals in distinctive areas are running campaigns for a cleaner society expanding the eco-tourism industry yet a large number of people are least interested in such ideas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a generally positive view of eco-tourism, supported by examples involving tourist areas in Pakistan, WWF, and Sea View in Karachi. These examples are relevant, but the response only partly addresses the question because your position on whether the trend is positive is not stated clearly and consistently. The opening mainly describes growing awareness, while the final paragraph notes that many people remain uninterested; the contrast paragraph focuses on pollution without explaining whether this weakens your overall support for eco-tourism. Several points, such as the benefits of cleaning campaigns, are asserted rather than fully explained. State your degree of support directly and develop each example by showing how it demonstrates a benefit or limitation of the trend.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. The examples generally follow the ideas they are intended to support, which helps the reader follow the discussion. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph combines individual litter prevention, local campaigns, and WWF’s educational work, while the contrast paragraph introduces pollution without clearly linking it to your overall judgement. Connectors such as “Adding on” and “In contrast to this” signal relationships, but some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats earlier points rather than resolving the contrast. Give each paragraph one main purpose and use clearer links to show how each point supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “eco-tourism sector,” “environmental effects,” “pollution,” and “adverse effects,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “reluctant in enjoying their lives,” though this phrasing is not natural in context. Several word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive: “information departments are being carried around the globe,” “raise voice,” and repeated references to “individuals” and “environmental issues” make parts of the response less fluent. Check word forms and spelling as well: “affects” is used where “effects” is intended. Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “awareness campaigns are being conducted” and vary repeated nouns without sacrificing clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of longer sentences and simpler statements, and the main ideas are usually understandable. However, complex sentences are not consistently controlled. For example, the opening joins clauses with “hence” and “leading to” in a way that makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. There are also agreement and article errors, as in “The increase … have enabled” and “a large number people,” and the sentence beginning “For example, garbage and pollution plays” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Some sentences are overloaded with clauses, particularly the final paragraph, which makes the argument harder to read. Use shorter, complete sentences where needed, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when combining clauses.
