Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, more poeple are becoming eco-tourists by choosing to travel in environmentally friendly and responsible ways. As a result, the eco-tourism industry growing rapidly. In my opinion, this is overwhelmingly positive development because it protects nature and supports local communities, through it requires a careful management.
First of all, eco-trourism plays a vital role in protecting the environment. Unlike traditional tourism, which often leads to pollution, littering and habitat destruction, eco-friendly travel focus on preserving natural habitats. Tourists are encouraged to minimize their waste, stay in eco-friendly, and respect wildlife. Furthermore, the money generated from eco-tourism is frequently used to be found conservation projects, maintain national park and protect endangerd species.
Secondly, this trend brings significant economic benefits to local communities. In many remote area or developing areas, eco-tourism creates jobs for local people as a tour guide and security management, drivers and hospitality staff. It also encourages small business, such as local craft markets and traditional restaurants, to thrive. Consequently, local residents can learn a sustainable income without needing to resort to activities that harm the environment, such as illegal logging or poaching.
However, there can be minor darwbacks if the industry expands too quickly without proper control. For instance, an excessive numbers of visitors to delicate eco-system can still cause distibance to wild life and soil erosion. Therefore, governments and tourism operators must set strict limits on visitors numbers and ensure that guidelines are strictly followed.
In conclusion, the growth of eco-tourism is a largely positive trend. It helps safeguard planet Earth and empowers local communities financially, provided that it is regualted responsibly to prevent overcrowding.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
Your position is clear throughout: you consider the expansion of eco-tourism overwhelmingly positive, while acknowledging that it needs careful management. You address the main parts of the question and support your view with relevant points about conservation, employment and the risk of overcrowding. For example, the contrast with traditional tourism and the examples of local businesses help explain the benefits. The qualification about visitor limits also shows awareness of possible drawbacks. Some support remains general, however: the conservation funding and community income claims would be more convincing with a specific example or a clearer explanation of how the benefits reach residents. The response meets the stated length requirement; eight words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate benefits, a further paragraph considers a drawback, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Ideas within paragraphs are generally ordered logically, and the contrast between benefits and the need for regulation is clear. To make the organisation more polished, rely less on formulaic transitions and connect some sentences through clearer referencing or cause-and-effect links. For instance, the move from conservation funding to local economic benefits could be made more explicit, and the final paragraph could briefly synthesise both benefits and the condition for success.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “habitat destruction,” “conservation projects,” “sustainable income,” “illegal logging,” and “poaching.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show attempts to use less common environmental and economic terms. However, some spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “eco-trourism,” “endangerd,” “darwbacks,” and “regualted.” There are also awkward or inaccurate combinations, including “stay in eco-friendly” and “used to be found conservation projects,” which make parts of the meaning less natural. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn vocabulary in complete collocations—for example, “stay in eco-friendly accommodation” and “fund conservation projects”—so your range is expressed more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses (“which often leads to pollution”) and conditional phrasing (“if the industry expands too quickly”). Most ideas remain understandable, and the paragraph structure helps readers follow the argument. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The opening says “the eco-tourism industry growing rapidly,” missing the verb “is,” and “eco-friendly travel focus” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “an excessive numbers” and “visitors numbers,” where number agreement or plural formation is not controlled. The phrase “provided that it is regulated responsibly” shows a useful complex structure, but greater consistency with articles, agreement and sentence patterns is needed. Proofread each sentence for a complete verb and matching singular or plural forms.
