Student answer (Band 6.0)
The environmental pollution is a widely debated issue today. With the growing awareness of pollution, people are becoming more concerned about the issue and trying to find solution to the problem. Many people are trying to choose environmental friendly ways of travelling to avoid carbon emissions and air pollution. I think that it is a positive development as it will not only help preserve environment but also motivate others to take part in saving world.
With the industrialization of the world, the global warming and climate change have emerged as a negative consequence of burning fossil fuel. Moreover, fossil fuel consumtion in transportation is aggravating the problem. Futhermore greenhouse effect due to carbon emissions has raised the global temperature resulting in devastating consequences. Melting glaciers and rising sea levels are of great concern for the people of the world. Many tourist decided to travel in a eco-friendly way. Many tourists have decided not to use airplanes to avoid carbon emissions. They decide to use renewable energy surces for their travel such as electric car or bicycles. In addition, some tourists decide to stay in hotels using reneable energy sources for elctricity like solar energy.
On the other hand, critics argue that there are many factors contributing to the environmental pollution which are far more important, such as deforestation, use of plastic, impoper recycling of waste products and loss of species which are affecting whole echosystem. Traveling eco-friendly way will not avoid pollution. They think action should be taken against other factors which are more serious.
In conclusion, expansion of eco-tourism is a positive development as every effort matters. Government should pass legislation to address seriousness of the problem. Authorities should promote awarness programmes to motivate people to play their role in enviromental preservation. I believe that eco-tourisism along with other measures should be promoted to save the world for the future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you consider the growth of eco-tourism positive, and you explain that it can reduce travel-related emissions and encourage environmental protection. The examples of choosing bicycles or electric cars and staying in hotels powered by solar energy make the discussion relevant. You also acknowledge a counterargument—that other problems, including deforestation and plastic waste, may be more serious—so the response addresses more than one perspective. However, this opposing view is not fully resolved, and some claims about eco-tourism’s benefits remain general rather than supported with a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how responsible tourism can benefit destinations and why its contribution matters alongside action on other environmental problems.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body develops environmental benefits and a counterargument, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing helps readers follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make relationships between ideas visible. This gives the essay a coherent progression. At times, however, connections feel mechanical, particularly where several points about climate change and emissions are added in sequence without showing how each advances the argument. The shift from the counterargument to the conclusion could also be more explicit. Use fewer formulaic transitions and strengthen links between claims—for example, explain how the listed travel choices lead to reduced environmental impact.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “carbon emissions,” “renewable energy sources,” “global warming,” and “rising sea levels,” which allows you to discuss the issue clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “devastating consequences” and “environmental preservation.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “consumtion,” “surces,” “reneable,” “elctricity,” and “awarness.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “environmental friendly ways” and “save the world for the future generations.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the accuracy and flexibility of your vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “environmentally friendly travel” and “preserve the environment.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a clear contrast in “I think that it is a positive development as it will not only help… but also motivate others.” The sentence about melting glaciers and rising sea levels is also controlled and easy to understand. Some grammatical errors remain, especially with articles, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “Many tourist decided” should use a plural noun and consistent tense, while “in a eco-friendly way” needs the correct article. In “Traveling eco-friendly way will not avoid pollution,” the sentence is missing grammatical elements and is difficult to process smoothly. Review article use and noun forms, and practise building complex sentences with accurate clauses. Most errors do not block the overall message, but greater consistency is needed.
