Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is said that concern for environment is growing very fast and more and more citizens are going for eco-tourist. They are travelling responsible and in environmently-friendly ways. As a result, the eco-tourism industry is growing.

I think this is a very positive trend because it helps in reducing pollutants and use of many others materials which become the cause of more global warming.

To begin with, many tourists are choosing to travel using items which are eco-friendly. So, they do not spread pollution. For example, many people who are going on holidays are starting to use electric vehicles due to which pollutants like carbon monoxide are decreasing in our environment. Moreover, many are choosing to travel in groups rather than taking saperate vehicles. This change can also cause decrease in the traffic which is growing very fast. However, this is one of the positive notions due to why people are choosing eco-friendly mode of travelling.

In addition, people choosing environmental friendly ways is also helping in reducing waste material which are bad for human health and hard to recycle. People are using paper straws rather than plastic because plastic is bad for health. It release micro plastic in our blood which causes cancer and other diseases. For instance, I had a friend who worked in a factory which produced plastic bottles. One day, he went to the doctor due to bad health. The doctor said to him he has cancer due to extreme amount of micro plastic in his blood.

In conclusion, I would say that this change is very good for our health as well as for the earth as it reduces global warming and it reduces the amount of pollution in our air.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider the growth of eco-tourism a positive trend, and you give reasons related to pollution and waste. The examples of electric vehicles, shared travel, and paper straws are relevant to the question. However, the discussion of reduced traffic is brief, and the claim that plastic releases microplastics into the blood and causes cancer is presented as fact without reliable support; the personal anecdote does not fully explain how eco-tourism itself reduces this risk. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation of its connection to responsible tourism, and use more credible or carefully qualified evidence. This would make the response more fully developed across all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphs are focused on pollution and waste, and linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “In addition” help signal the progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “However” does not introduce a contrast in the first body paragraph, while “due to which” and “due to why” make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The shift from eco-friendly travel to plastic straws also needs a clearer link to eco-tourism. Use transitions that accurately express the relationship between points and add a sentence explaining how each example supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “eco-friendly,” “pollutants,” “global warming,” and “recycle.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “electric vehicles” and “micro plastic.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “eco-tourist” is used where “eco-tourism” or “eco-tourists” is needed, “environmently-friendly” is misspelled, and “saperate” should be “separate.” Some combinations are also awkward, including “use of many others materials” and “spread pollution.” Build accuracy with common collocations and check word forms and spelling. More precise vocabulary would help express the environmental effects without relying on repeated general terms such as “good” and “bad.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “For example, many people who are going on holidays are starting to use electric vehicles…” This shows some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. Examples include “It release micro plastic,” where the verb should agree with “It,” and “the doctor said to him he has cancer,” which needs a clearer reported-speech structure and consistent tense. “People choosing environmental friendly ways is also helping” also has an unclear subject–verb relationship. Practise forming accurate complex sentences with relative clauses and cause-and-effect structures, and check agreement and tense in each sentence. Greater control would make your reasoning easier to follow.
