Student answer (Band 5.5)

The concept of choosing eco-tourism is growing rapidly these days as more and more people are choosing to be eco-tourists. According to my perspective, it a very positive trend emerging majorily among young people. As it supports the local communities, therefore, these places are becoming small business hubs. Meanwhile, it also comes with a problem of pollution, as more uneducated people visit these natural places, they create a mess over here.

The concern for environment is increasing and with that people are becoming aware of it's severity. So, people are preferring eco-tourism which is for sure overcoming other tourism methods, and, helping to sustain the environment in all possible ways they can do. For an instance, eco-tourists plant trees, they help local communities to grow, they guide people that it is there moral responsiblity to sustain the environment.

Moreover, the downside that eco-tourism carries with it is that not all people that comes to these places are aware of these manners. They usually lack a sense of responsibilty within them which keep them to make environment positive and natural. For example, few people travelling to hilly areas for camping will, carry snacks, plastic wrapers, plastic water bottles and they will cut trees to lit a fire. These all factors combined will affect nature in more serious ways then the eco-tourists are guiding about.

Overall, eco-tourism is a right emerging initiative, and, it have more positive aspects for environment then downsides. Collectively, it is in favour of nation and the local people living over there for past centuries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that eco-tourism is positive, while acknowledging pollution and irresponsible visitor behaviour. The examples of planting trees, supporting local communities, and littering during camping are relevant to the question. However, the benefits are asserted more than explained, and the discussion of how eco-tourism supports local businesses or sustains nature remains general. The conclusion also introduces the benefit to the nation without developing it earlier. The response is 248 words, so it falls two words short of the required 250; the 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of each example and make the extent of your positive judgement more explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links feel mechanical or inaccurate. For example, “As it supports the local communities, therefore” uses two connectors for the same relationship, while “Meanwhile” does not clearly signal the shift to pollution. Repeated references to “eco-tourism” and “environment” also make the writing feel repetitive, and “these places” and “over here” are not always precise references. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its point, and vary referencing to make the argument flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “eco-tourists,” “local communities,” “pollution,” and “sense of responsibility.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “small business hubs” and “hilly areas for camping.” However, the range is limited and some choices or forms are inaccurate, which can make meaning less precise: “majorily” and “responsibilty” are misspelled, and “make environment positive and natural” is an awkward expression. “Manners” does not accurately describe visitors’ environmental awareness in this context. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this will help you express the environmental and economic effects with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “which,” and “that,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently, particularly in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “it a very positive trend” (missing “is”), “people that comes” (agreement), “it have” (agreement), and “the concern for environment” (article use). The sentence beginning “As it supports…” is also joined awkwardly to “therefore,” and the long camping example would benefit from clearer punctuation and clause control. Practise building accurate complex sentences and checking each sentence for a subject and correctly formed verb before adding more detail.
