Student answer (Band 6.0)

At present, importance of the environment has been surged and people are cautious towards their actions while visiting a place during tourism.

Due to continuous delivery of environment related news and different kinds of research, individuals are know more aware of the different kinds of risks that are threatening the environment. One of the main cause of these risks is associated with tourism and tourists now-a-days are aware of their actions.

The result of this knowldge has made the tourists more reponsible and environment friendly and they are looking out for ways how they can visit a place with little or no harm to the environment of that place. They are trying to adapt different kinds of techniques and adapting many sorts of useful procedures to conserve the natural things and places surrounding them. This has transformed the tourists into a new term called eco-tourists.

This particular behavior has led to the creation and expansion of new eco-tourism industry. And it is has led to the positive outcomes. During the last year, Government of India made a mandatory rule that visitors of the iconic Taj Mehal will use plastic covers on their feet and that will help to slow down the fading of stones used o the floor. Tourists are also paricipating in cleaning and restoring works. They are also advising their fellows to do so.

According to my point of view, I consider it strongly positive trend as it will not only reduce pollution but also conserve the environment for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses the question and gives a clear, strongly positive position, especially in the conclusion: eco-tourism can “reduce pollution” and conserve the environment for future generations. You also explain how greater awareness may encourage responsible behaviour and provide a specific example involving visitors to the Taj Mahal. These relevant points meet the task well. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others: the discussion of environmental news and research is broad, and the Taj Mahal example is not clearly connected to the wider benefits or possible limitations of the expanding industry. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of eco-tourism in more detail and support your claims with a clearer example or reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from growing awareness, to tourists’ behaviour, to the industry’s expansion and a supporting example, before stating your position. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “The result of this knowledge” signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, progression is weakened by repetition of the same point about tourists becoming aware and responsible. The transition from the general discussion to the Taj Mahal example is also abrupt, and the sentence beginning “This particular behavior” could make its reference more precise. Develop a clearer link between each paragraph’s main idea and the next, and use referencing and linking phrases less mechanically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “eco-tourists,” “conserve,” “pollution,” and “environmentally friendly,” so the reader can follow the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “mandatory rule” and “restoring works.” However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “knowldge,” “reponsible,” and “paricipating.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “importance of the environment has been surged” and “delivery of environment related news.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A broader range of precise terms for environmental impacts and tourism practices would make the argument more fluent and convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “ways how they can visit a place” and a conditional idea about conserving the environment for future generations. The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “importance of the environment has been surged” has an incorrect verb construction, while “individuals are know more aware” and “it is has led” contain faulty verb forms. There are also issues with articles and agreement, as in “a positive trend” in the conclusion and “One of the main cause.” Work on accurate verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, and article use, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly formed.
