Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, enviromental awareness has incresed significantly, and an increasing number of people are choosing environmentally friendly ways to travel which leads the rapid growth of the eco-tourism industry. I believe this is largely positive development because it helps protect and benefits the natural environment.

To begin with, one of the most important advantage of eco-tourism is that it helps preserve forests, wildlife and natural landscapes. Eco-tourist are more likely to reduce the use of product harmful for the ecosystem. They also encourage other tourist to reduce waste and to minimise their carbon footprint, can help minimise enviromental damage preserve forest. Moreover, it also create employment opportunities for the local residents by guiding the tourist, by providing rented vehicles, by giving them spce to accomodate.

On the other hand, the increase in eco-tourism also have some negative consequences if not properly maintained. Furthermore, growing number of tourist cn damage the ecosystem by producing waste, disturbing wildlife, not respecting natural resources. In addition, the construction of hotels and other accomodation places also rises visa versa increase in tourism which leads to the deforestation and pollution. Some industrial authorities also participate in eco-tourism for their personal benifits without genuinely concerning for environment. For instance, government should implement strict rules and regulation for tourism and other travellers in response to protecting environment.

In conclusion, eco-tourism indusrty is although a positive develpoment but with an appropriate regulations and rules are necessary to ensure that the tourism is not harming the environment. Instead of damaging the ecosystem ought to be benfitted by tourism.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that eco-tourism is “largely positive,” and you address both benefits and possible harms. The points about protecting forests and wildlife, creating local employment, and the effects of waste and hotel construction are relevant to the question. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained: for example, the employment point lists services but does not show how these opportunities benefit communities or support conservation. The negative paragraph also introduces government rules without developing a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain the cause-and-effect links behind each main point and make the conclusion’s position more precise about when eco-tourism is beneficial.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links between ideas are unclear. In the first body paragraph, the sentence about reducing waste runs into the claim about preserving forests, making the relationship difficult to follow. “Furthermore” does not clearly signal a new point after the paragraph has already introduced drawbacks, while “visa versa” does not express the intended connection between tourism and construction. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “eco-tourism,” “carbon footprint,” “ecosystem,” “wildlife,” and “deforestation,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “employment opportunities” and “implement strict rules.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated use of general words such as “tourist,” “environment,” and “damage,” as well as inaccurate or awkward combinations such as “product harmful for the ecosystem” and “space to accommodate.” Spelling errors—including “enviromental,” “incresed,” and “benifits”—are noticeable and sometimes interrupt reading. Build precision by learning common collocations for conservation, local livelihoods, and environmental impacts, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and contrast, for example, “I believe this is largely positive development because…” and “On the other hand…” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often not controlled accurately. Agreement errors occur in “one of the most important advantage” and “the increase … also have”; articles and plurals are also missing or inconsistent. The sentence beginning “They also encourage other tourist” lacks a clear grammatical link before “can help,” and the conclusion’s “with an appropriate regulations and rules are necessary” combines incompatible structures. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence patterns before adding more complexity.
