Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environment, in these days, is a big concern for the public. People have a great knowledge about environment and they prefer eco-friendly environment for the sake of tourism. It is resulting in the expansion of eco-tourism industry. In my opinion, this trend has a positive impact for a country economically as well as socially. 'Eco-tourism' can be defined as 'the tourists are concerned about the places and the friendly environment, they plan their tours''.It is rising a competition between government of countr to make more and more developments. This competition between the states is producing more economicall and social places for the public. Moreover, If there is a private land of a person, he is renting this land to the state to make hotels and restaurants for the visitors. This results in economical development of a country.

Now-a-days, tourists prefer going to nature because of hectic life routine. They prefer the places, full of positive energy and peace. For example, in my country, people generally move to northern areas of the country because there are meadows, lakes, mountains and restraunts. The managers of those areas have the responsibility to keep them clean, pollution-free and tourists friendly.

In conclusion, the places with positive energy and calmness heal tourists in a form that they involve with other strangers and overcome thier loneliness and stress. They pay money on the activities which they feel worth doing. Concluding all the aspects mentioned above, we can say that this trend, 'eco-tourists' is influencing positively, to the societies, to a large extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider the growth of eco-tourism positive, particularly for economic and social reasons. You also give relevant examples, such as visitors travelling to northern areas and the need for managers to keep these places clean. However, the response only partly develops the task. The economic point about land being rented for hotels and restaurants is explained, but the social benefit is less directly connected to responsible tourism, and the conclusion introduces healing loneliness and stress without showing how eco-tourism specifically achieves this. The definition of eco-tourism is also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain how environmentally responsible travel benefits nature and local communities, and support each main reason with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas about economic development and visits to natural areas are grouped into relevant sections, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal movement between points. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because connections between claims are not fully explained. For instance, the statement that competition between governments produces “more economicall and social places” is unclear, and the final paragraph shifts from eco-tourism’s effects to tourists overcoming loneliness. Some linking phrases are also mechanical, particularly “Concluding all the aspects mentioned above.” Make the relationship between each example and your main argument explicit, and use clearer references when moving between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “eco-tourism,” “pollution-free,” “meadows,” “mountains” and “economic development,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “a great knowledge about environment,” “positive energy,” “economically and social places” and “pay money on the activities.” There are also spelling errors such as “countr,” “economiall,” “restraunts” and “thier.” Aim for more precise phrases that describe environmental responsibility and local benefits, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms such as “places” with specific alternatives would also make the argument more exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If there is a private land of a person, he is renting this land to the state.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement and punctuation occur often enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “It is resulting in the expansion” has an unsuitable verb form, while “the tourists are concerned about the places and the friendly environment, they plan their tours” joins two clauses incorrectly. The opening also has a sentence boundary problem in “industry. In my opinion.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and review article use, verb forms and punctuation when editing.
