Student answer (Band 5.5)
The increase in global warming in these past years has raised a serious concern over the environment and it's hazard risks.
The studies has shown that a rapid increase in global warming is happening because of green house gases which includes nitrogen and carbon dioxide. These gases are harmful for the enviorment as they play a crucial role in climate change. The main source of green house gases is pollution. The pollution has three types which are land, water and air pollution.
The people are shifting toward more eco friendly enviornment to save the earth. All the tourists are advised to travel with responsibility of not destroying the landscape of the country they visits too. It has been observed that tourists has taken the steps for saving the enviornment postively.
In my opinion, the eco tourism is a positive trend and leading to expansion of eco toursim industry. Travellers are avoiding to take plastic bottles with them and trying to replace them with glass bottles. The plastic bags destroy the eco system of sea which results to harming the sea species and polluting the sea. Visitors carry paper bags in the replacement of plastic bag which maintains the cleaness of an enviornment. In pakistan, their northern areas like Swat, Naran and Hunza are very popular for tourist attraction. In recent years, the local showed concern toward the destruction of their land because of rapid increase in tourism. However, the northern areas has again started to shift back to its natural place

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear opinion that eco-tourism is positive and provide relevant examples, particularly the use of reusable or paper bags and the effects of tourism in Pakistan’s northern areas. However, the response only partly develops the task: the opening discussion of global warming and pollution takes up space without clearly explaining how eco-tourism addresses these problems, and the final point about the northern areas is incomplete and difficult to interpret. The benefits are asserted more than explained, and there is little consideration of possible drawbacks or why the trend is positive overall. To strengthen the response, develop each example with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and connect it directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from environmental concerns to tourist behaviour and then to your opinion and examples. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “In my opinion” and “However” signal relationships between ideas. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the first two paragraphs repeat information about pollution and environmental harm, while the link between the general discussion and the Pakistan example is abrupt. Some references are also unclear, especially “the northern areas has again started to shift back to its natural place,” which does not explain what has changed. Organise the essay around a clear sequence of reasons, and use linking phrases to show how each example supports your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “green house gases,” “climate change,” “eco system,” and “landscape,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “rapid increase” and “local showed concern.” However, spelling errors are frequent, including “enviorment,” “enviornment,” “toursim,” and “cleaness,” and some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “hazard risks,” “eco friendly enviornment,” and “replacement of plastic bag.” These issues make the writing less fluent and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, for example “environmental risks,” “eco-friendly practices,” and “instead of plastic bags.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “gases … which includes nitrogen and carbon dioxide” and a reason clause beginning “because of.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer ones. Examples include “The studies has shown,” “tourists has taken,” and “the northern areas has,” where subject and verb do not agree. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “The people are shifting toward more eco friendly enviornment,” and the final sentence is difficult to follow because its structure is incomplete or unclear. Practise checking agreement, articles, and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
