Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a broadly positive view, mainly arguing that eco-tourism can bring income to the Philippines and benefit local people. The country-specific example is relevant, and your conclusion returns to the potential financial benefit. However, the response only partially addresses whether the trend is positive: most of the discussion concerns tourism income and government corruption, with little explanation of how environmentally responsible travel protects nature or what disadvantages it may bring. The opening is also difficult to interpret, so your position is not consistently clear. To strengthen the response, state your degree of support directly, then develop two relevant reasons with clear explanations and specific examples connected to eco-tourism rather than tourism in general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs broadly separate the claimed economic benefit from concerns about government leadership, and connectors such as “In addition,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal stages of the response. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the second body paragraph shifts from tourists’ experiences to corruption and native people without explaining the links between these points. Some sentences also combine several ideas, making relationships difficult to follow. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, and connect supporting details explicitly to that point. Clearer referencing and fewer formulaic transitions would make the argument easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “eco-tourism,” “environmentally-friendly,” “financial assistance,” “corrupting the funds” and “leadership.” This gives you a basic range for discussing tourism and its possible economic effects. However, several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, and repeated general terms such as “problem,” “people,” “fund” and “positive” limit precision. Phrases such as “the positivity of these trend” and “a positive to native people” make your meaning less natural and sometimes unclear. Build a more precise set of topic-related expressions, and check collocations and word forms when revising. For example, distinguish income for local communities from government revenue, and describe environmental benefits directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and consequences, for example, “if the government have a heart…” However, the range of structures is limited, and errors in basic sentence patterns frequently make the message difficult to follow. Examples include “people who visit Philippines are always have,” “the native people are always have a problem,” and “government are always excusing.” These show problems with verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “other country” and “these trend.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although” and “if.” Proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
