Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the history museum becoming an artists’ gallery, and the addition of a playground and covered seating. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the overall transformation accurately: calling the supermarket change “a very good development” gives an opinion rather than describing the main features. Some details are inaccurate or incomplete. The plant beds are in the northern part of the square, not “behind” the buildings, and the library’s removal is not stated in the plan; the western building is simply not labelled for a new use. You also omit the town hall and the fountain remaining, and the conversion of the eastern buildings into shops. The response is one word below the required minimum. Develop a clearer overview and report the main changes precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an opening, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Moreover” help signal progression, and the reader can follow some of the changes being described. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview mixes individual details with an opinion, while the later paragraphs move between locations and changes without a clear organising principle. References such as “behind this history museum” and “near this covering sitting” are difficult to interpret, and the final sentence ends abruptly. Use one paragraph for a concise overview and organise the details by area or by type of change. Clearer linking and more precise references would make the account easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “central fountain,” “north side,” “converted,” and “playground,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and a number of spelling and word-choice errors make the description less clear, such as “follwing,” “comlpleted,” “supermakret,” and “greenary.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “surroundings region,” “two structures,” and “covering sitting” do not describe the map clearly. “Very good development” is evaluative rather than suitable for a neutral report. Aim for accurate location and change vocabulary, such as “square,” “located,” “replaced,” and “covered seating,” and check spelling carefully. This would improve precision while retaining the relevant vocabulary you already use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “Firstly,we clearly seen” lacks a correctly formed verb, while “Main changing is children's play ground created” has problems with sentence structure and articles. In “fish restaurant and bar changed into the bars and restaurants,” the verb form and number are not controlled. Punctuation is also unreliable, with missing spaces after commas and full stops, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “The fish market was replaced by a supermarket.” Use past forms for the 2014 layout and future or planned forms for the proposed changes, and proofread articles and sentence boundaries.
