Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the maps, including the key changes such as the conversion of the fish market and the addition of new amenities around the fountain. You have also made relevant comparisons between 2014 and 2020. However, the response lacks a clear, concise overview paragraph that synthesizes the most significant trends. While you mention that some features remained unchanged, a more structured summary of the overall transformation would improve the clarity of your report. Additionally, ensure that all descriptions are accurate; for instance, you mentioned a library was 'breaking down,' whereas the map likely indicates it was replaced or repurposed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Moreover,' and 'Last but not least' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the fountain area and the south side features feels abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus, such as grouping all northern changes together and all southern changes together.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, using terms like 'reconstructed,' 'demolished,' and 'converted.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'fountain accomplished with' (should be 'supplemented by') and 'history museum was took place' (should be 'was replaced by'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'breaking down' to describe a building's removal is not appropriate in this context. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns related to urban planning would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of your writing. Issues include incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'history museum was took place'), missing articles (e.g., 'in middle of diagram'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the place of fountain as well as town hall had no changes'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing map changes.
