IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given maps illustrates the development plan to make changes in square of a town by 2020.

Overall, there is a clear plan that the square will be completely changed and upgraded by 2020, there are some advancements worth mentioning such as supermarket, children playground, and so on, despite the developments the town hall remains at same place.

As a matter of fact, the town square faced various expansions. For instance the fish market which used to be at north west corner of the square in 2014, now transformed into a supermarket. New recreational sights also been added to this square such as bar and restaurant has been constructed on south corner of the square which used to be fish restaurant in 2014, while new shops on east side have been opened too. For relaxation children playground and seating is introduced in the core of square.

However, there are some things which remained similar with the passage of time, take fountain which is still at the hub of square and townhall is still at north east side of the square.
