Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the diagram, identifying the key changes between 2014 and 2020. You successfully highlight the conversion of the fish market into a supermarket and the administrative buildings into shops. However, the overview is somewhat simplistic and lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as the overall modernization of the area. While you mention the additions of plant beds and a playground, the description of the layout could be more precise. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview synthesizes the information rather than just listing changes, and provide a more comprehensive summary of the spatial transformations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from 2014 to 2020. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow could be improved by using more varied linking phrases. The paragraphing is appropriate for a task of this length, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow, despite some minor awkwardness in the phrasing of the overview.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'converted', 'replaced', and 'administrative buildings'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'East navigation' (instead of 'in the east') and 'the another places' (which is grammatically incorrect). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing the movement or transformation of features on the map.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'there was only one place which remain unchanged' (should be 'remained') and 'there was an addition of a plant beds' (should be 'plant beds' or 'a plant bed'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, work on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help boost your score.
