IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The diagram provides information about a town square and its area in 2014 and the plans for the development of its area which is completed by 2020.

Overall, it is clear that there are many facilities added new, while other were removed or relocated. The town has become more urbanised and developed. There are several changes on the development of the town.

In 2014, at the right corner there were a fish market, but now there is a super market after development. At beside of the fish market there were history museum, but it is now replaced by local artist gallery. The library and fish restaurant is removed after the development in the town. Fountain is still unchanged in the middle of the map.

At the left corner of the map town hall is still unchanged and the plant beds are added new. At the west side of the map administrative buildings are replaced by many local shops. Children playground and covered seating areas are added new in the middle of the town. Bars and restaurants are still unchanged after the development.
