Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 150 words, which severely limits the ability to fully address the task. While you attempt to identify some changes, such as the fountain and the addition of shops, the description is incomplete and stops abruptly. You fail to provide a comprehensive overview of the main features or make sufficient comparisons between the two time periods. To improve, you must ensure you cover all key developments shown in the diagram and provide a clear, structured summary that meets the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a logical structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the text ends mid-sentence, which disrupts the flow of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas effectively, and the paragraphing is not fully developed. To improve, focus on organizing your response into a clear introduction, an overview of the main trends, and detailed body paragraphs that compare specific features, using linking words like 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'subsequently' to connect your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'urben' for 'urban', 'devloped' for 'developed', 'shopes' for 'shops', and 'resaturant' for 'restaurants'. These errors, combined with the repetitive use of basic vocabulary, hinder the clarity of the response. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to urban planning and development, such as 'transformed', 'replaced', or 'constructed', and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles (e.g., 'in center of town'), incorrect prepositions, and awkward sentence structures. The attempt at complex sentences is limited, and the existing sentences often contain errors that affect readability. For example, 'the whole place is fully devloped in during the period' is grammatically incorrect. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb agreement and the appropriate use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
