Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the changes between 2014 and 2020, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. While it mentions some of the facilities, the description is disorganized and lacks a clear comparison. The response lists items rather than analyzing the spatial changes, such as the removal of certain buildings or the addition of new zones. The conclusion is vague and does not synthesize the information effectively. To improve, you must identify the most significant changes—such as the transformation of open space into specific functional areas—and present these in a structured, analytical manner rather than a simple list.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' is mechanical and does not help the flow of ideas. The sentences are often run-on or fragmented, making it difficult to follow the progression of the description. There is a lack of logical connection between the 2014 state and the 2020 development. To improve, focus on using transition words that show contrast (e.g., 'whereas', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the comparison.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'huge development is happen' and 'this all shops' are grammatically incorrect and demonstrate a lack of control over basic collocations. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the diagram accurately; for instance, instead of 'big shops size will increased', you should use more precise terminology like 'the size of the shops will be expanded'. The reliance on simple, informal language hinders the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('In this diagram shows'), tense usage ('is happen'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using a wider variety of grammatical forms, such as passive voice, which is essential for describing development plans.
