Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the transformation well, identifying key changes such as the supermarket, the museum, and the new amenities. The overview is clear and highlights the main trends, such as the addition of facilities for leisure and shopping. However, the response could be improved by providing more precise comparisons between the two time periods. For instance, while you mention the supermarket replaced the fish market, you could have more explicitly contrasted the 'before' and 'after' states to better demonstrate the scale of the development. Overall, the response addresses the prompt effectively and provides a logical summary of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'moreover', and 'following this' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, and the use of 'Nextly' is non-standard. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would help elevate the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modifications', 'amenities', and 'constructed'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'fresh plant beds was place' (should be 'placed') and 'purpose of enjoyment'. The phrase 'history museum replaced to local artist's gallery' is also grammatically and lexically imprecise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that vocabulary is used in the correct context to convey meaning accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('fresh plant beds was place'), missing articles ('newly supermarket', 'in the Southern side'), and awkward phrasing ('various amenities were adding to new project'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage and verb tense consistency, particularly when describing past and future developments.
