Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between 2014 and 2020, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. The information is presented in a fragmented way, and there are significant inaccuracies in the interpretation of the data (e.g., mentioning 2022 instead of 2020). The response lacks a clear structure, making it difficult to follow the development of the area. Key features such as the overall layout or the most significant changes are not highlighted effectively, which limits the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical flow. Paragraphing is used, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with sentences appearing disconnected. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the progression of information is confusing. For instance, the transition between describing the administrative building and the children's play area is abrupt. The use of referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the changes being described.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'gellary' (gallery), 'wase' (was), and 'Avilable' (available). The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe the changes (e.g., 'not divide into part' instead of 'undivided'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the specific changes in the town square.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The diagram show', 'It’s also come'), tense usage ('history museum was convert'), and sentence structure. The writing relies heavily on simple sentences, and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and missing commas. These errors are pervasive and significantly impact the readability of the text.
