IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagrams demonstrate the developments had taken place in a town square and surrounding area covering the periods of 2014 and 2020.

In comparison with 2020, some positions were altered, some remained exact position and some were no longer exist. Fountain remained as the center of the developments and town hall was also abled to retain the position. History museum was replaced by local artists gallery. But in contrary library had lost their position. Fish restaurents and bar were merged in 2020 and converted to bars and restaurents. Bandstand had failed to cosider it's position in new development plan. Plant beds were introduced to provide a esthetic appearance. Administrative buildings were demolished and shops were constructed in that place. Children playground were taken place to entertain them. New covered seating arrangements were introduced to facilitate the visitors.
