Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the town square development. You provided a clear overview and highlighted the key changes, such as the replacement of the fish market and the introduction of new facilities. However, the description of locations is sometimes imprecise; for example, using 'left bottom side' or 'upright corner' is less professional than using cardinal directions or specific spatial descriptors. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are explicit and that the spatial relationships are described with greater clarity and academic precision. You covered all parts of the task well, providing a logical summary of the transition from 2014 to 2020.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the two time periods. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In addition to', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally', to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, 'At the end' is not the most natural way to conclude a paragraph in this context. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of information is generally easy to follow. To improve, work on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing between sentences is more fluid and less predictable.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'structural development', 'administrative buildings', and 'replaced'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the numbers shops' (should be 'the number of shops') and 'remained same' (should be 'remained the same'). The use of 'upright corner' is also non-standard. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations and avoiding informal phrasing will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the changes of surrounding area' (should be 'the changes to the surrounding area') and 'the direction of the ways were' (should be 'the directions of the ways were'). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'at the left side' (should be 'on the left side'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over complex structures and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will be beneficial.
