IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The map illustrates the layout of a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and makes a plan for development in a area and completed by 2020.

Overall, there are many changes in 2020 and looking very developed area. In 2014, there are no space for children's to play outside games and in 2020 near fountain featured a children's playgrond. So these type of development should be done in 2020.

To begin with, in 2014 in southern side fish restaurants and bar is in separate showrooms but in 2020 they combine in bars and restaurants and space also increase after combine together. In 2014, on the north east side there was a fish market but in 2020 they converted into supermarket.

Moreover, In 2014 on the west side there was history museum and library while they change into local artists gallery. In the centre of the map there was only a bandstand in 2014 but in 2020 they featured a children's park and covered seating area and plant beds also.
